Location: Nottingham Job type: Full-time, Permanent Sector: Engineering and Manufacturing The Opportunity An established engineering business in Nottingham is looking for an experienced and dependable Accounts Manager to take responsibility for its day-to-day financial operations. You will be reporting to the financial director. This is a varied, hands-on position covering bookkeeping, financial record maintenance, purchase ledger and payroll. You will ensure that financial information is accurate, up to date and processed within the required timescales. The role would suit an organised finance professional who is comfortable managing multiple priorities and working closely with colleagues, suppliers and senior management. Working hours: Monday to Thursday 07:30am - 16:00pm Friday 07:30am - 14:30pm Key Responsibilities • Manage the companys day-to-day bookkeeping activities., • Maintain complete and accurate financial records., • Manage the purchase ledger, including processing and coding supplier invoices., • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice or payment queries., • Prepare and process supplier payment runs., • Manage payroll accurately and within agreed deadlines., • Process employee expenses, overtime, holiday pay and relevant payroll deductions., • Complete bank and credit card reconciliations., • Maintain sales and purchase records., • Assist with credit control and the collection of outstanding payments., • Prepare regular financial reports for senior management., • Support month-end and year-end accounting procedures., • Assist with budgeting and cash-flow monitoring., • Maintain accurate records for VAT returns and other statutory requirements., • Liaise with external accountants, auditors and payroll providers when required., • Ensure financial procedures and internal controls are followed., • Handle sensitive financial and employee information confidentially., • Provide general administrative support to the wider business when necessary. Skills and Experience The successful candidate will ideally have: • Previous experience as an Accounts Manager, Bookkeeper, Finance Manager, Accounts Supervisor or Senior Accounts Assistant., • Strong bookkeeping and financial record-keeping experience., • Experience managing purchase ledger and supplier payments., • Practical payroll-processing experience., • Knowledge of bank reconciliations, VAT and month-end procedures., • Strong numerical and analytical skills., • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy., • The ability to organise workloads and meet strict deadlines., • Good Microsoft Excel skills., • Experience using accounting or payroll software., • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities., • The confidence to work independently and take ownership of the finance function. Qualifications An AAT qualification or equivalent accounting experience would be beneficial. Candidates who are qualified through experience are also encouraged to apply.
