Senior Site Manager\n\nLocation: Colchester\n\nSalary: £60,000 – £85,000 per annum (depending on experience)\n\nPin Point Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to lead operations within a busy manufacturing environment, ideally within food production, fresh produce, or FMCG manufacturing.\n\nThis is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall performance of site operations, including production, quality, maintenance, transport, and logistics, while driving Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to maximise efficiency, productivity, and quality.\n\nThe successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the site operates to the highest standards of food safety, compliance, and operational performance, while leading and developing high-performing teams.\n\nReporting Structure\n\nThis role reports directly to the General Manager and sits above the Operations Manager within the site leadership structure.\n\nDirect reports include:\n\nOperations Manager (with Production Manager and Senior Maintenance Engineer reporting into this role)\n\nTechnical Manager\n\nTransport & Logistics Manager\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nSite Leadership & Operations\n\nOversee the day-to-day performance of site operations across production, quality, maintenance, and logistics.\n\nEnsure customer orders are delivered on time, to specification, and in line with agreed service levels.\n\nPlan and coordinate operations to ensure efficient and smooth running of the site.\n\nEnsure appropriate staffing levels and resources are in place to meet operational demand.\n\nLean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement\n\nDrive a culture of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement across the site.\n\nIdentify opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and optimise production processes.\n\nAnalyse operational performance and introduce improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and cost control.\n\nImplement best practice manufacturing processes and encourage data-driven decision making.\n\nFinancial & Performance Management\n\nSupport the development and management of operational budgets across production, maintenance, quality, and logistics.\n\nEstablish and monitor operational KPIs aligned with business objectives.\n\nReview performance metrics and make operational adjustments to ensure targets and budgets are achieved.\n\nIdentify and implement cost-saving and efficiency initiatives.\n\nQuality & Customer Standards\n\nEnsure all products meet customer specifications, quality standards, and traceability requirements.\n\nMaintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and operational compliance.\n\nEnsure the site remains audit-ready at all times, including BRC and food safety standards.\n\nInvestigate and resolve non-conformances and quality issues promptly.\n\nTeam Leadership & Development\n\nLead and develop managers across production, maintenance, quality, and transport & logistics.\n\nConduct regular 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, and goal setting with direct reports.\n\nPromote a culture of accountability, engagement, and high performance.\n\nSupport training, development, and succession planning across the site.\n\nEncourage strong collaboration and communication across departments.\n\nCompliance & Legislation\n\nEnsure full compliance with all relevant legislation and standards including:\n\nHealth & Safety regulations\n\nFood safety and hygiene standards\n\nEnvironmental health legislation\n\nData protection (GDPR)\n\nInternal company policies and procedures\n\nParticipate in HACCP and food safety management systems.\n\nEnsure all necessary training, records, and compliance documentation are maintained.\n\nCandidate Requirements\n\nEssential\n\nProven experience in a senior leadership role within a manufacturing environment.\n\nExperience managing multi-department operational teams.\n\nStrong leadership and people management skills.\n\nDemonstrable experience implementing Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nStrong understanding of operational KPIs, efficiency, and cost control.\n\nAbility to manage performance in a fast-paced production environment.\n\nHighly Desirable\n\nExperience within food manufacturing, fresh produce, or FMCG production.\n\nKnowledge of BRC, HACCP, and food safety standards.\n\nExperience overseeing logistics or transport operations within a manufacturing site.\n\nBenefits\n\nSenior leadership opportunity within a growing manufacturing environment\n\nOpportunity to lead site-wide operational and improvement initiatives\n\nLong-term career progression potential\n\nIf you are an experienced Senior Site Manager with a background in manufacturing and a passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement, we would love to hear from you.\n\nApply today through Pin Point Recruitment
