    Delivery Driver – Food Manufacturing and Wholesale Company: Lab Pizza Limited Location: WD7 7HP Radlett Working hours: 9-5:30 Pay: TBC Employment type: Full time/Part time Start date: ASAP About Lab Pizza Limited Lab Pizza Limited manufactures gluten-free pizza bases and pizzas. We supply our products to restaurants, food businesses, distributors and other commercial customers. We are looking for a reliable and responsible delivery driver to transport our products safely and professionally using the company’s own van. About the role The driver will collect orders from our manufacturing premises and deliver them to restaurants, distributors and other business customers. The role includes loading and unloading products, checking orders, obtaining proof of delivery, maintaining accurate records and keeping the company van clean, hygienic and roadworthy. As our products are gluten-free, careful handling and strict compliance with the company’s food-safety and cross-contamination procedures are essential. Main responsibilities Deliveries • Deliver gluten-free pizza bases, pizzas and related products to restaurants, distributors and other commercial customers., • Complete deliveries safely, accurately and within the agreed delivery windows., • Follow the delivery schedule and authorised routes., • Check each order against the delivery note before loading and leaving the premises., • Confirm that the correct products, quantities and batch details have been loaded., • Obtain proof of delivery, including a signature, photograph or electronic confirmation where required., • Ensure products are delivered to the correct person or authorised receiving area., • Report delays, rejected deliveries, missing items, damaged products or customer complaints promptly., • Return undelivered or rejected products to the manufacturing premises., • Make authorised collections from customers, suppliers or distributors when required., • Collect payments only when specifically instructed and account for all money or payment records immediately. Product handling and food safety • Handle all products carefully to prevent damage, deterioration or contamination., • Follow the company’s food-safety, hygiene and allergen-management procedures., • Take particular care to protect the integrity of products labelled or supplied as gluten-free., • Prevent contact between company products and unauthorised food, allergens, chemicals, waste, animals or personal belongings., • Maintain the required frozen, chilled or ambient transport conditions, as specified by the company., • Complete temperature checks and records when required., • Report any temperature-control failure or food-safety concern immediately., • Do not deliver products if their safety, packaging or required storage conditions may have been compromised., • Maintain product traceability by protecting delivery notes, batch information and other records., • Report damaged, opened, wet or contaminated packaging before delivery. Loading and unloading • Assist with loading and unloading the van., • Check that products are arranged securely and safely before driving., • Make sure products cannot move, fall, become crushed or sustain damage during transport., • Separate products as required under the company’s allergen and food-safety procedures., • Do not overload the vehicle., • Ensure the load does not obstruct the driver’s view or interfere with the safe operation of the van., • Use safe manual-handling techniques and any trolleys or lifting equipment provided., • Return delivery trays, crates, containers or other reusable items when instructed., • Check and report any stock discrepancy before leaving the premises. Van cleanliness and hygiene • Keep the company van clean, hygienic, tidy and presentable., • Clean and sanitise the load area according to the company’s cleaning schedule., • Clean the load area immediately following a spill, damaged package or contamination incident., • Keep the driver’s cab clean and free from rubbish., • Remove all waste, food, drink containers and personal belongings at the end of each shift., • Complete cleaning records where required., • Never transport unauthorised goods, chemicals, animals or personal items in the load area., • Never smoke or vape in the company vehicle., • Report pests, unusual smells, water ingress, dirt or any other hygiene concern immediately., • Make sure the van is suitable for transporting food before products are loaded. Daily vehicle checks The driver must inspect the van before using it and complete any required vehicle-check record. Checks will include: • Tyres and wheels., • Lights and indicators., • Brakes and warning lights., • Mirrors, windows and windscreen., • Windscreen washers and wipers., • Number plates., • Fuel, oil, coolant, AdBlue or battery level, where applicable., • Seat belts., • Doors, locks and load-area security., • Refrigeration or temperature-control equipment, where fitted., • General cleanliness and visible damage., • Safety and emergency equipment. Any defect, warning light, damage or safety concern must be reported immediately. The driver must not use a vehicle that appears unsafe or unlawful to drive. Refuelling and care of the van • Refuel or recharge the van as instructed., • Use company fuel cards only for authorised company purposes., • Keep fuel receipts and mileage records where required., • Safeguard the van’s keys, fuel card, documents and equipment., • Lock the van and secure the products whenever the vehicle is unattended., • Park the vehicle in its authorised location at the end of the shift., • Report servicing or maintenance concerns promptly., • Do not arrange repairs without company authorisation, except in an emergency where instructed., • Do not use the van for personal journeys without written permission., • Do not allow anyone else to drive the van unless authorised by Lab Pizza Limited., • Do not carry unauthorised passengers. Driving standards • Drive safely, responsibly and courteously., • Follow the Highway Code, road signs, speed limits and all applicable laws., • Adapt driving to traffic, road and weather conditions., • Do not use a handheld mobile telephone while driving., • Use hands-free equipment only when lawful, necessary and safe., • Never drive while impaired by alcohol, illegal drugs, tiredness or medication., • Inform the company immediately about any health condition or medication that may affect safe driving., • Take appropriate breaks and do not drive when too tired to do so safely., • Comply with any applicable working-time and driving-hours requirements. Parking and traffic penalties • Park legally and safely when making deliveries or collections., • Check parking signs, loading restrictions, controlled hours and access rules before leaving the vehicle., • Do not assume that hazard lights permit unlawful parking., • Pay authorised parking, toll or congestion charges in accordance with company procedures., • Keep and submit receipts where required., • Report every parking ticket, Penalty Charge Notice, traffic notice, toll notice or other penalty to the company immediately., • Hand over or forward the complete notice promptly so that the company does not lose the opportunity to pay at a reduced rate or submit an appeal., • Do not conceal, discard or delay reporting a penalty notice., • Cooperate with any appeal or investigation., • The driver may be responsible for penalties caused by their own unlawful parking or driving, subject to the employment contract, written authorisation for any deduction and applicable law., • Any deduction from wages will only be made when it is lawful and properly authorised., • Penalties arising directly from a clear company instruction will be reviewed individually. Accidents, damage and breakdowns • Report every accident, collision, theft, breakdown, vehicle defect or incident immediately., • Stop safely and follow the law after an accident., • Obtain the other party’s name, contact details, vehicle registration and insurance details where applicable., • Record the location, time, circumstances and any witnesses., • Take photographs where it is safe to do so., • Contact the police or emergency services when required., • Do not admit liability or promise payment on behalf of the company., • Complete the company’s accident or incident report., • Cooperate fully with the company and its insurers., • Report all damage to the van, even if it appears minor. Customer service and conduct • Represent Lab Pizza Limited professionally at all times., • Be polite and helpful when dealing with customers, suppliers and colleagues., • Wear clean and suitable work clothing or the uniform provided., • Maintain good personal hygiene., • Follow each customer site’s reasonable safety and delivery procedures., • Do not argue with customers. Refer disputes or complaints to the appropriate manager., • Protect confidential information, including customer details, prices, products and delivery routes., • Do not post information or photographs about customers, products or company operations on social media without permission. Records and communication • Complete delivery notes, mileage records, vehicle checks, cleaning logs and temperature records accurately., • Use any delivery, navigation or proof-of-delivery system provided., • Keep the company informed about progress and significant delays., • Report shortages, damaged goods, rejected deliveries and customer concerns promptly., • Return keys, documents, equipment, reusable containers and payment records at the end of the shift., • Protect customer information and comply with company data-protection procedures., • Follow reasonable instructions given by the manager or supervisor., • Assist with appropriate warehouse, dispatch or order-preparation duties when required. Essential requirements • A full UK driving licence valid for the company vehicle., • The legal right to work in the UK., • Ability to meet the requirements of the company’s motor insurer., • A safe and responsible driving record., • Reliability, punctuality and good time management., • Ability to follow delivery instructions and use navigation software., • Ability to complete delivery and vehicle records accurately., • A professional and polite approach to customers., • Ability to work independently and report problems promptly., • Ability to load, carry and unload boxes safely., • Willingness to keep the company van clean and complete daily checks., • Willingness to follow strict food-safety, hygiene and allergen procedures. Desirable experience • Previous commercial delivery or multidrop driving experience., • Experience delivering food products to restaurants, wholesalers or distributors., • Experience working for a food manufacturer or food-distribution business., • Experience transporting frozen or chilled products, where applicable., • Knowledge of the local delivery area., • Food-hygiene and manual-handling training. Physical requirements The role involves regular driving, getting in and out of the van, standing, bending, loading and unloading products, and moving delivery boxes or containers. Probationary period The successful applicant will be subject to a probationary period of:4 weeks Continued employment will depend on satisfactory attendance, punctuality, driving standards, customer service, vehicle care, food-safety compliance and record-keeping.
