M&E Surveyor Location: South Coast (on-site, secure environment) We're looking for an experienced M&E Surveyor to join a multidisciplinary estates team supporting a large, complex maritime and defence site. You'll work across a diverse estate, carrying out detailed mechanical and electrical surveys, identifying defects, and producing the technical reports and scopes of work needed to support maintenance and improvement projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical expertise, particularly in heating, ventilation and building services systems, who enjoys problem-solving, working closely with stakeholders, and delivering high‑quality technical assessments. About the Role As an M&E Surveyor, you'll be part of a collaborative team covering Building & Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical disciplines. You will be: Conducting surveys of buildings, infrastructure and utilities Producing detailed technical reports, defect analysis, and scopes of work Carrying out Asset Physical Condition Grade (Level 4) surveys Providing feasibility studies, option appraisals and cost estimates Advising on statutory compliance, regulations and best practice Supporting the wider estates and maintenance teams with technical input Ensuring surveys and reporting meet quality, safety and environmental standards Managing data entry and updates within internal systems and databases Liaising with clients, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure fit‑for‑purpose, value‑for‑money solutionsYou'll need to be organised, methodical, and able to manage your own workload while delivering professional, accurate assessments to support operational needs. What We're Looking For Ideally, you will bring: Technical Experience 5+ years' experience in M&E surveying, construction, or facilities management Strong mechanical background (HVAC, heating, ventilation etc.) Good understanding of building systems, pathology and infrastructure Working knowledge of Building Regulations, CDM and relevant legislation Familiarity with Health & Safety legislation and best practice Strong general IT skills, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and database systems Behaviours & Soft Skills Collaborative and proactive approach Logical thinker with a keen eye for detail Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills Professional, organised and able to work independently when needed Confident explaining complex technical information clearly Qualifications You should have: Degree or HNC in a relevant mechanical/electrical engineering or surveying discipline Health & Safety qualification (IOSH or NEBOSH) or willingness to work towards one Additional certifications beneficial, such as: Heating engineer qualifications 18th Edition Asbestos awareness Working at Height Confined Spaces MEWP licence Skilled climber trainingSecurity clearance (or eligibility to obtain it) is required due to the nature of the site.
