Sub Agent Galldris Group Location: Site-based role within Midlands Region, based out of Birmingham Office B37 7YW An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sub Agent to join our Midlands team. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering Background with previous experience in Civils project delivery, in both pre-construction and construction stages. Strong experience of RC works, drainage, groundworks and highways or at least some of these disciplines. The Sub Agent will manage the successful delivery of a small project, or a defined section/work package of a larger Galldris project, ensuring works are planned, programmed and executed safely, efficiently and to the required standards of quality, programme, cost and environmental performance, while supporting the Site Agent/Project Manager on complex packages. The Sub Agent will lead and coordinate site teams and subcontractors, maintain strong commercial awareness and accurate records, and build positive relationships with clients and stakeholders to demonstrate Galldris’ self-delivery capability, agility and high safety culture. Key Accountabilities to include but not limited to: Health, Safety and Environment • Takes ownership for ensuring that HSEQ protocols are always adhered and displaying strong, visible, proactive leadership with regards to health, safety, environment and quality, • Contribute to the achievement of Galldris’s safety targets and zero tolerance of unsafe working practices and occurrences, • Establish and implement site systems and controls consistent with Galldris company standards and project requirements, • Ensure the production and communication of risk assessment and methods statements to the site supervision, • Support and endorse the use of hazard and good practice observation reporting, • Support staff and frontline workers’ health and wellbeing, • Manage all environmental constraints and requirements Programme and Production • Contributing to the value engineering and buildability of the project, • Agreement of programmes and methods of construction with Planner and other appropriate production personnel, • Work with the Planner / Project Lead on contract programme updates and narrative in accordance with contract requirements, • Ensuring that resource requirements and production outputs are established, monitored and controlled, • Carry out constructive analysis of fully resourced programme and ensure production of operational target programmes to reflect the overall contract programme, • Lead on short term planning and dissemination of short-term programmes to the site team and supply chain Operational Excellence • Leadership and management of a site team, including onboading, HSEQ appointments, training, development and competence reviews ensuring the correct resource, equipment, experience and training, • Organisation of resources for the overall control and execution of the works including the selection of sub-contractors to carry out the works where necessary, • To secure materials and plant necessary to meet specifications and planned programme of work, • Maintain accurate material trackers, and manage wastage and allowances of materials, • Ensure that RAMS, ITPs, MARs and permits are accurate and signed off before any work commences, • Ensure all testing regimes are in place and work inspection requests and checksheets are implemented and adhered to, • Identify temporary works requirements and produce or manage the production of detailed and accurate temporary works designs and safe implementation, • Ensure project quality standards and handover requirements are met, • Ensure non conformance reports are produced, investigated and closed out in timely manner, • Input into the close out of all contract documentation, sign off of all QA documentation and input into the Health and Safety file, • To provide technical reviews of services, products and subcontracts within the section/ project Commercial • Input into the management of change within the section/project in accordance with contract requirements in collaboration with the Planner and Commercial team, • Input into the management of risk on the project through early warning process and collaboration with the Client / Principal Contractor, • Ensure robust cost control in accordance with project budget and forecast, • Production of progress reports as required by Client and/or Senior Management, • Ensure that the document control processes are adhered to and comprehensive and accurate site records are maintained, • Comply with Company policies & procedures, • Undertake other duties commensurate with the level of this position Experience/Knowledge: • A successful track record of engineering / operational delivery of civils projects, • Extensive knowledge of construction techniques, site engineering and temporary works, • Good knowledge of the requirements and implementation of CDM Regulations and Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental systems, • Developing knowledge and experience of NEC forms of contract Qualifications: • HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or similar, • CSCS card Skills: • IT literate, • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, • Ability to work on own initiative, • Meticulous, organised, proactive with a positive attitude and willingness to learn, • Self-motivated and enthusiastic, • Excellent organisational and planning skills, • Ability to build collaborative relationships at all levels Desirable skills: • SSSTS or SMSTS, First Aider, Utilities Appointed Person, Temporary Works supervisor / coordinator, Lifting Appointed Person. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering Background with previous experience with RC works, drainage, and groundworks, working in high-profile, tier 1 & 2 environments with attention to health, safety, environment and quality. The Senior Planner will manage the Planning and Programming function in selected key bids in Tender, Preconstruction and concluding in Construction, liaising internally with the Galldris team, and externally with the Client, Consultants, and other Key Stakeholders to ultimately produce and manage well-considered, professional and accurate plans and programmes. Key Accountabilities to include but not limited to: • Proactively lead the planning function on selected projects, producing well-considered, professional and achievable methodologies and programmes for both Pre-Construction and Construction activities, • Collaboratively create, maintain, review and administer construction schedules and planning deliverables, including planning philosophy, presentations and reports, • Determine optimum construction methods and techniques, • Identifying temporary works and method-related plant, • Identifying planning scope, major constraints and contract requirements, • Identifying major quantities and factors affecting the programme collaboratively with the team and supply chain, • Establish the critical path of the programme. Review and analyse the critical path with the wider team as necessary, • Communicate effectively with key members of the team throughout the bid, tender, pre-construction and construction phases, seeking advice where appropriate, • Applying resource and resource levelling techniques as necessary, • Present the project programme and sequence in detail or at a high level as appropriate, • Understand and implement the requirements of the building contract(s) about submitting initial and updated programmes, • Where necessary, provide periodic programme updates with appropriate supporting information to assist the delivery team in reporting, • Liaise with Third Parties critical to the planning process (including but not limited to Statutory Authorities, Utility Providers, Planning Authorities, and other Design Consultants) and ensure their requirements and contributions are understood and communicated in the programme, • In addition to the above, at the Contract stage, the Senior Planner is accountable to the Head of Planning / Project Lead for:, • Implementing and monitoring the overall planning strategy and the timing & sequence of the Contract Programme activities, • Identify and alert the wider team on any issues affecting the project programme delivery, • The issue and communication of the Contract Programme to the Project Lead for the onward issue to Client and Project Team, including periodic progress reporting, • Ensuring that all other project planning and programming necessary for the execution of the contract are properly undertaken, • Provide timely and accurate reports explaining the progress of work and critical issues in the design period, with a clear plan of action, • Thinks commercially, and focuses on activities that will deliver real value for the projects, • Undertake other duties commensurate with the level of this position, • Comply with Company policies & procedures Experience/Knowledge: • Operational experience (i.e. site engineer/site agent) together with previous significant experience in planning services in small to medium-sized projects within the construction and engineering industry, • Proficiency in the use of planning techniques and the required planning toolsets, • An understanding of:, • forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications., • methods of planning, programming and progress monitoring, • risk and opportunity management with particular reference to planning programming, • events that initiate, and of the methods used to demonstrate, delay, or change entitlement, • risk and opportunity management with particular reference to planning/programming, • An understanding of the construction market, methods of construction, plant, equipment and labour requirements, • In-depth understanding of the Planning requirements of the JCT and NEC forms of Contract Qualifications: • Relevant experience in the construction industry, • Recognised Construction or technical discipline qualifications Skills: • IT literate - Planning and Programming Software Proficient in the use of P6 and Asta Powerproject, • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, • Ability to deal with clients & internal staff, • Ability to work on own initiative, • Meticulous, organised, proactive with a positive attitude and willingness to learn, • Self-motivated and enthusiastic, • Excellent organisational and planning skills Interested applicants must be eligible to work legally in the UK.
