Customs Compliance Specialist Location: Farnborough Contract: 6 months (inside IR35) (likely extension/potential permanent) Rate of Pay: £40ph umbrella or £29.89ph PAYE Role Overview A leading innovator in high-altitude aerospace technology is seeking a detail-oriented Customs Compliance Specialist to support the compliant and efficient movement of goods across international borders. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a pioneering organisation at the forefront of solar-electric aviation and global connectivity solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to manage import/export processes, classify shipments, and maintain accurate compliance records. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement global customs compliance processes. Deliver in-person training on customs topics to internal teams. Accurately classify products using Harmonised Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes. Review and classify inbound shipments to ensure accurate customs declarations. Track packaging data for UK Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) reporting. Obtain necessary regulatory clearances, including Type Approval Certificates. Create SOPs for customs brokers and third-party logistics providers. Manage temporary shipments to avoid double duty payments. Liaise with customs brokers in the UK and Kenya to ensure proper documentation and procedures. Coordinate with export teams to secure licences and clearances. Reconcile quoted duties with actual payments in collaboration with finance and tax teams. Validate purchase orders related to duty and customs payments. Maintain accurate records of import/export licences and manage renewals. Act as the primary contact for customs-related queries between internal teams and external brokers. Stay up to date with customs regulations and best practices. Ensure accurate export and customs compliance data is maintained in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool. Support logistics in maintaining an accurate and current Product Matrix. Experience & Qualifications Degree in International Trade Compliance, Customs, Business, or equivalent experience. Proven experience in customs compliance or international trade. Strong knowledge of HTS codes, import/export regulations, and customs procedures. Familiarity with Type Approval Certification and licensing requirements. Experience working with customs brokers, logistics providers, and regulatory agencies. Proficiency in ERP and PLM systems is advantageous. In house custom experience desirable. International experience, particularly in Kenya, is a plus. Senior Research Scientist 3A – in Biokinetics Start date: Asap Contract duration: 2-year contract – possible extension after Location: Bracknell, fully on-site PAYE rate: £19.46 per hour About this opportunity: We are looking for a Senior Research Scientist who specialises in plant physiology and/or plant biochemistry, and who has proven experience in a research setting to join the Bioperformance group within Bioscience in Crop protection. The group conducts research on the ADME (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Elimination) behaviour of active ingredients (AI) within target and non-target species, enabling understanding of critical performance characteristics such as selectivity, resistance and translation to the field. If successful, as part of the Herbicide Biokinetics team, you would work on the optimisation and deployment of assays using LCMS analysis. Role purpose: • Assume responsibility for delivering high quality data to herbicide research projects that you have generated from biokinetics assays. Analyse data, feedback results, contribute scientific advice and propose appropriate follow up studies. Troubleshoot where necessary., • Using own expertise introduce new technologies and devise improvements to assay protocols to generate operational efficiencies using automation and digital tools., • Devise and develop new capabilities/experimental strategies to support the ADME-related requirements of projects and programs. Independently design and perform experiments to evaluate the robustness and validity of the biokinetics assays, • Effectively communicate scientific findings and resulting implications within the group and to cross-disciplinary projects.
