The Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function at our Rugby site, covering both site services and manufacturing operations. This role has a strong focus on high-value contracts within Hydro, Navy, and major rotating machinery projects, ensuring robust commercial governance across the entire project lifecycle. You will be responsible for end-to-end commercial management, including contract negotiation, risk management, claims strategy, and financial performance. Working closely with Business Managers, Project Management, and Sales teams, you will play a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, commercially effectively, and with risk appropriately managed. Key Responsibilities:Support and advise on commercial strategy for major contracts, particularly Hydro and large new-build projectsInterpret, negotiate, and manage complex contract terms (NEC, FIDIC, and bespoke agreements)Negotiate terms and conditions with clients, customers, and suppliersDevelop and maintain agreed Terms & Conditions for major customersEnsure strong commercial governance from bid through to project close-outWork closely with Project Managers to ensure adherence to contractual obligationsManage change control, variations, and compensation eventsIdentify, manage, and mitigate commercial risks and opportunitiesMaintain accurate records and audit trails to support claims and dispute resolutionLead the management and resolution of disputes, claims, and potential litigation, working with HQ Commercial and external legal counselInterface with HQ Commercial to align strategies and protect the business positionSupport project teams to ensure correct insurance coverage is in placeAssist Business Managers with contract review processesEnsure compliance with all internal policies, procedures, and safety standards Your skills and experiences: Proven experience (5+ years) in a Commercial Manager, Quantity Surveying, or Legal roleStrong financial and commercial acumenExcellent attention to detail with a proactive approach to risk managementStrong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skillsDemonstrable experience working on large, complex engineering or infrastructure projectsAbility to guide and support multi-disciplinary delivery teamsRelevant HNC, degree, or equivalent qualificationEligibility to obtain SC ClearanceSolid experience working with NEC and/or FIDIC contract frameworksFull UK driving licenceExperience with contract terms and conditions JCT, NEC, FIDIC and similar contracts Benefits:As a valued member of our team, you’ll receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes:Contributory salary sacrifice pension schemeLife insurance (4x your salary)Enhanced annual leave entitlement, in addition to bank holidaysCompany-funded gym subsidy paymentsFree 24/7 remote GP service and other health support benefitsEmployee referral programLong service recognition awardsPaid maternity and paternity leaveAccess to free Electric/ Hybrid vehicle charging points and free onsite parking Additionally, youll have access to a wide range of supplementary benefits, including:Employee Assistance ProgrammeExtensive professional development through our in-house training academyCareer-enhancing training eventsExclusive employee discounts and various concessions via our corporate perks platform Why Quartzelec?At Quartzelec, we are proud to invest in developing future talent, demonstrated by our active support of more than 100 apprentices across the business.
