About the role: Due to continued growth, Avove is seeking to appoint a Commissioning Manager to join our Severn Trent Water framework. Reporting to the Framework Manager, the Commissioning Manager will be responsible for overseeing all commissioning activities and leading commissioning teams across Clean and Wastewater Non‑Infrastructure projects within the region. Salary: Between £60,000 - £70,000 Location: We welcome applications from candidates based anywhere within the Severn Trent region. Key Responsibilities: Ensure all M&E and commissioning activities are delivered safely and in accordance with relevant regulations and procedures. Assess the competency, capacity, and resource needs of MEICA and Commissioning staff. Drive continuous improvement across MEICA and commissioning processes, including greater use of digital tools. Oversee the development of MEICA and commissioning plans to support the successful delivery of project outcomes. Engage with client teams to secure buy‑in for commissioning strategies and methodologies. Ensure all commissioning documentation meets Avove and client standards. Provide technical support to Project Managers, Site Managers, and in‑house design teams. Contribute to programme development and attend project, design, and client meetings as required. Support buildability reviews. Lead, develop, and performance‑manage commissioning staff through regular 1‑2‑1s and appraisals. Skills and Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ commissioning experience, ideally within the water industry. Strong understanding of sewage and water treatment processes, including pumping systems. Knowledge of mechanical equipment used in water and wastewater treatment environments. Good working knowledge of LV switchgear, instrumentation, control and automation systems, including the ability to interpret SLDs, cable block diagrams, and schedules; ATEX/complex systems experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, and a range of technical drawings and documentation. Capable of managing and prioritising a high workload to meet demanding framework timelines. Familiarity with PLC code and the ability to review ladder logic. Active HAZOP participant with the confidence to constructively challenge where appropriate.
