Job Title: Standalone HR Advisor Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience) Location: Chester, occasionally supporting other locations \n My client is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join their team in Chester, providing HR support across a number of office locations. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HR professional who enjoys working independently, building strong relationships with managers, and playing a key role in shaping the employee experience across the full employment lifecycle. \n Key Duties \n Employee Relations \n\n • Provide practical and professional HR guidance to managers and employees.\n, • Manage employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance and absence cases.\n, • Support investigations and formal HR meetings.\n, • Coach managers on effective people management and best practice.\n, • Ensure HR processes are applied consistently and in line with current legislation.\n\n Recruitment & Employee Lifecycle \n\n • Oversee recruitment activities from advertising through to appointment.\n, • Coordinate onboarding, inductions and probation reviews.\n, • Prepare employment contracts and associated HR documentation.\n, • Support employee engagement and retention initiatives.\n, • Manage changes to employment and offboarding processes.\n\n HR Policies & Compliance \n\n • Review and update HR policies, procedures and documentation.\n, • Maintain compliance with UK employment legislation and HR best practice.\n, • Identify potential HR risks and recommend appropriate solutions.\n, • Ensure employee records are accurate, secure and confidential.\n, • Work with external HR and employment law specialists when required.\n, • Ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection requirements.\n\n Learning & Development \n\n • Coordinate training activities and learning programmes.\n, • Maintain training records and compliance documentation.\n, • Support performance and development discussions across the business.\n, • Identify opportunities to enhance employee skills and engagement.\n\n HR Administration & Reporting \n\n • Maintain HR systems and personnel files.\n, • Produce management information and HR reports.\n, • Monitor absence, turnover and other key workforce metrics.\n, • Liaise with payroll providers and support payroll-related processes.\n, • Prepare HR correspondence and documentation.\n, • Provide wider administrative support to the business.\n, • Deputise for the Practice Manager when required.\n\n Requirements \n\n • Previous experience in an HR Advisor, HR Generalist or similar position.\n, • Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.\n, • Proven experience handling employee relations cases independently.\n, • Experience advising, supporting and coaching managers.\n, • Ability to support teams across multiple office locations.\n, • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.\n, • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.\n, • High levels of discretion, professionalism and integrity.\n, • CIPD Level 5 qualification, or equivalent practical experience, is essential.\n, • Experience operating as a standalone HR professional or within a multi-site organisation would be advantageous.\n\n If you are an experienced HR professional looking for a varied and influential role where you can make a genuine impact across a growing organisation, we would love to hear from you.
