Full Time | 35 Hours per Week \n Salary: £32,931 - £34,000 FTE per annum \n Location: Openshaw Campus / Harpurhey Campus \n About the Role \n We have an exciting opportunity to join our Student Experience and Support Department as a Designated Teacher for Children Looked After and Care Leavers on a fixed-term, full-time basis. \n As an experienced and qualified teacher, you will fulfil the role of Designated Teacher for all children and young people who are looked after, including previously looked after young people and care leavers. \n You will take lead responsibility for promoting educational attainment, progress, achievement, attendance, engagement, and positive outcomes for this cohort of learners. This includes coordinating and completing Post-16 Personal Education Plans (PEPs), ensuring robust and effective PEPs are completed each term and are focused on academic achievement, personal development, and enrichment opportunities. \n The role will be carried out in line with statutory guidance, Keeping Children Safe in Education, and the responsibilities associated with the Designated Teacher role. \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive, and differentiated lessons to Foundation Learning learners, ensuring individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes are effectively met.\n, • Support learners with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs, and communication barriers.\n, • Create a safe, supportive, and accessible learning environment that promotes learner confidence, independence, and achievement.\n, • Develop and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), targets, and strategies to support academic, personal, and social development.\n, • Assess, monitor, and record learner progress, providing timely feedback and adapting teaching approaches to maximise learner success\n, • Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, SEND teams, parents/carers, and external professionals to ensure learners receive appropriate support and interventions.\n, • Prepare learners for adulthood by developing employability, life skills, communication, and independent living skills.\n, • Promote positive behaviour, learner wellbeing, and emotional resilience through effective classroom management and pastoral support.\n, • Monitor attendance, engagement, and achievement, implementing strategies to remove barriers to learning and improve outcomes.\n, • Contribute to Annual Reviews, EHCP reviews, and multidisciplinary meetings, providing detailed reports on learner progress and support requirements.\n\n The Ideal Candidate Will Have \n\n • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.\n, • Experience working with vulnerable learners, children looked after, care leavers, or young people requiring additional support.\n, • Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and statutory guidance.\n, • Experience of multi-agency working and partnership development.\n, • Excellent communication, organisation, and record-keeping skills.\n, • A commitment to improving outcomes and raising aspirations for young people.\n\n Why Work With Us? \n\n • Exclusive access to roles in leading FE colleges and training providers.\n, • 1:1 support from a Specialist SEN Consultant, including CV advice and interview preparation.\n, • Health Cash Plan & REED Discount Club.\n, • Statutory Sick Pay, Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Pay.\n, • Access to REED Learning & Development programmes.\n, • Eye test and spectacle vouchers.\n\n If this role sounds of interest please get in touch today!
