Permanent Finance Manager, opportunity in West Yorkshire Hays Senior Finance is proud to partner with an established SME to appoint a Finance Manager on a permanent basis. The organisation is ideally situated and commutable from Wakefield, Batley, Dewsbury, Mirfield and surrounding areas. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified finance professional to take ownership of the finance function, particularly management accounting and month-end processes. You'll also influence strategic decision‑making, and work closely with operational teams to drive performance and profitability. As a key member of the finance team, you’ll combine hands‑on financial management with proactive business partnering, turning data into insight and helping the organisation scale with confidence. Key Responsibilities • Financial Leadership & Reporting, • Lead preparation of monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet and cash flow, • Provide insightful analysis, commentary, and recommendations to support decision‑making, • Oversee budgeting, forecasting and long‑term financial planning, • Maintain robust financial controls and audit‑ready documentationBusiness Partnering, • Support operational leaders with meaningful financial insight, • Conduct cost analysis, pricing reviews, margin analysis and scenario modelling, • Challenge assumptions and drive accountability for financial outcomes, • Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, Operations and Supply Chain teamsProcess & Systems Improvement, • Strengthen processes, controls and reporting efficiency, • Lead or support upgrades to ERP, finance systems or reporting tools, • Develop dashboards, KPIs and performance‑tracking metricsOperational Finance, • Manage cash flow, working capital and banking relationships, • Oversee payroll, supplier payments and credit control, • Ensure compliance with all statutory and HMRC requirements, • Co‑ordinate with year‑end accountants and auditorsAbout You, • You will be a qualified finance professional, with post-qualification experience leading month-end processes, and experience in a business partnering function., • Strong SME experience, in fast-paced commercial environments, such as manufacturing, engineering, distribution & logistics, or product‑based environments., • UK finance experience is essential. You will also be fluent in written and verbal English, and a confident communicator who can simplify financial information for non-finance individuals., • Hands‑on, proactive and commercially engaged, • Able to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery, • The right to work in the UK, without expiry or sponsorship.
