We are recruiting for a FTSE 100 listed organisation who are seeking a Finance Manager - Technical Accounting to join their team. In this role, you will play a key role in shaping a trusted and respected finance function. You’ll be responsible for defining accounting policies, providing expert technical accounting guidance, and ensuring the effective stewardship of the Group’s assets. Working closely with senior stakeholders across multiple business areas, this role offers an exciting opportunity to influence strategic financial decisions and drive excellence in financial control and compliance. Key Responsibilities • Provide expert guidance on complex technical accounting matters across the Group, preparing technical papers for internal and external stakeholders., • Draft and update accounting policies in line with evolving standards and business requirements., • Support the monthly IFRS 17 close process, ensuring accuracy and control of End User Computing models., • Deliver IFRS 17 training to Finance team members and relevant business stakeholders., • Act as control operator/owner on financial controls requiring technical accounting input (e.g., impairment assessments, loss-making contracts)., • Collaborate with internal and external auditors, Group Risk, and third-party advisors on accounting and control projects, including new standard implementations and transformation initiatives., • Lead elements of the annual Finance controls self-attestation and key control testing processes, ensuring timely remediation of identified deficiencies., • Promote a culture of technical excellence, strong financial control, and accountability throughout the organisation. Skills & Experience • Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly IFRS 9, 15, and 16 (knowledge of IFRS 17 desirable)., • Proven experience in financial risk management, controls, and compliance within a complex organisation., • Background in audit, with a solid understanding of audit principles and practices., • Familiarity with financial controls testing methodologies and SOX compliance frameworks (advantageous)., • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear insights for senior stakeholders., • Professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent).
