Location: Lichfield Working Pattern: Monday–Friday (07:00–17:00), Fridays from home Day Rate: £650/day Umbrella or £500/day PAYE + £60/day holiday pay We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the transformation of a former facility into a state-of-the-art distribution centre. This is a high-profile, hands‑on role where you will take full ownership of the project lifecycle—from customer engagement and site coordination through installation, testing, commissioning, and final handover into operations. You will act as the primary on‑site customer interface and play a key role in ensuring successful delivery of a complex warehouse automation programme within a live industrial environment. • Full ownership of project delivery from initiation through to commissioning and handover, • Act as the primary on‑site customer‑facing representative, • Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasting, and reporting, • Coordinate procurement, installation, engineering, and commissioning teams, • Oversee installation managers, testing engineers, and commissioning activities, • Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality standards, and programme milestones, • Manage project documentation, and reporting requirements, • Lead commissioning phases and support transition into service and maintenance, • Deliver complex automation systems within an operational warehouse environment This role sits within a large-scale warehouse automation programme, including: • Conveyor systems, • Material handling equipment, • Industrial automation systems, • Robotics and automated technologies, • Controls integration and commissioning We are looking for a proven leader with strong experience in automation and logistics environments. You will be confident operating on‑site and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. • Proven experience delivering warehouse automation or material handling projects, • Strong background in industrial automation environments, • Hands‑on experience across installation, testing, and commissioning phases, • Experience working with conveyor systems, robotics, and automated warehouse technologies, • Strong stakeholder management and customer‑facing experience, • Experience with systems such as Dematic, Vanderlande, KNAPP, or SSI Schaefer, • Ability to lead multidisciplinary, on‑site delivery teams, • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background, • PMP and/or PRINCE2 certification, • Strong problem‑solving, diplomatic, and delivery‑focused approach You must be eligible to live and work within the UK.
