Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time/Bank Salary: To be confirmed Locations: Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, St Helens, Wigan, Bolton, Stockport, Salford, Crewe, Macclesfield, Northwich, Altrincham, Leigh, Widnes, Runcorn Role Overview: We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Collection Nurse to join our clinical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting biological samples from patients and donors across various programmes, including our cord blood donation initiative and research tissue banking services. This role is essential in supporting our mission to advance medical research whilst providing exceptional patient care. Clinical Duties: You will perform venepuncture and other sample collection procedures safely and efficiently. Duties include collecting cord blood samples in maternity settings following established clinical protocols, and obtaining biological samples for research in line with ethical and regulatory guidelines. You will ensure correct sample handling, accurate labelling, and secure storage. Additional responsibilities include maintaining clear and accurate patient records and conducting pre-collection health assessments, including gaining informed consent. Patient Care: You will provide compassionate and professional care to all patients and donors. The role requires the ability to explain procedures clearly, address concerns, and maintain dignity and comfort throughout. You must be able to identify and respond appropriately to any adverse reactions, while upholding confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times. Quality Assurance: The role involves full compliance with clinical governance, infection control, and health and safety standards. You will participate in quality audits, incident reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain your clinical competence through regular training and development. Administrative Duties: You will complete accurate documentation and data entry, liaise effectively with clinical teams, laboratories, and research coordinators, and contribute to meetings and staff training sessions. You may also support wider education and community engagement activities. Qualifications: • Registered Nurse (RN) with current NMC registration, or Health Care Support Worker, • Post-registration clinical experience, • Certification and proven competency in venepuncture (training will be provided), • Valid and up-to-date DBS clearance Skills and Attributes: • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, • Strong attention to detail and high standards of accuracy, • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, • A compassionate, patient-centred approach to care, • Flexibility to work in a range of clinical environments, • Commitment to ongoing professional development Experience: • Previous experience in sample collection or laboratory liaison is preferred, • Experience in maternity or women’s health services is advantageous Desirable Criteria: • Understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), • Additional qualifications in women’s health or clinical research, • Experience working with diverse communities, • Ability to speak multiple languages Preferred Experience • Minimum 1 year of nursing or clinical experience (preferred but not essential) Certification: • NMC registration (preferred) Work Schedule Options • 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts, • Day or night shifts, • Monday to Friday, • Weekend and holiday availability If you're interested, please follow the link to apply: UK Cell Therapy Group - UK Cell Therapy Group l Book A Free Consultation Today l Advancements in Cancer
