This role will be nights Monday- Thursday. 12 hour shift Role Purpose The Resident Assurance Engineer is responsible for providing independent, risk-based assurance of rolling stock maintenance activities. The role ensures that planned, reactive, and corrective maintenance is carried out safely, compliantly, and to the required quality standards, while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and risk reduction across the maintenance regime. Key Responsibilities Maintenance Assurance & Inspection Conduct in-process inspections of planned maintenance activities to verify compliance with approved maintenance instructions, standards, and safety requirements. Conduct in-process inspections of reactive and corrective maintenance activities, focusing on quality, effectiveness, and opportunities for improvement. Review completed maintenance records to confirm accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contractual, regulatory, and company requirements. Continuous Improvement & Investigation Identify maintenance activities that require further investigation or development, including but not limited to: Tasks that cannot be completed in accordance with approved instructions Activities that do not add value or present inefficiencies Repeated defects or recurring maintenance issues Provide evidence-based feedback and recommendations to support improvements in maintenance processes, task instructions, and work practices. Audit & Assurance Activities Conduct train presentation audits, including travel to outstation locations as required. Deliver risk-based assurance activities, prioritising areas of highest operational, safety, or compliance risk. Record findings clearly and accurately, ensuring issues are categorised, tracked, and escalated where appropriate. Compliance & Stakeholder Support Support the TARA Compliance Manager in the delivery of assurance, compliance monitoring, and governance activities. Liaise with maintenance teams, engineering functions, and other stakeholders to communicate findings, clarify requirements, and promote compliance and best practice. Key Outputs Assurance reports detailing findings, observations, non-conformances, and improvement opportunities. Clear evidence of compliance (or otherwise) with maintenance standards and instructions. Actionable recommendations that support safety, quality, and performance improvements. TPBN1_UKTJ
