Therapeutic Family Support Worker / Parenting Practitioner Location: Barnsley (S71)Pay: £18 per hourType: Agency (12-week structured intervention) About the RoleWe are seeking experienced and confident Therapeutic Family Support Workers / Parenting Practitioners to support an edge-of-care placement supporting a family in their home in Barnsley. This is a high-impact, relationship-based role, focused on preventing breakdown by delivering consistent, therapeutic intervention within the home. You will work as part of a structured support plan, helping the parent to develop effective parenting strategies while supporting the child’s emotional and behavioural needs. What You’ll Be Doing • Providing direct, relationship-based support to both parent and child within the family home, • Modelling and promoting positive parenting approaches and routines, • Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management and de-escalation, • Working to a clear intervention plan in partnership with social care professionals, • Creating a safe, consistent and structured environment, • Supporting daily activities, engagement, and routine-building, • Recording observations and contributing to progress updates Shift Pattern • Shifts typically start from 8:30am, up to 15 hours, • Flexibility required, with occasional shifts extending to late evening / midnight, • Rotational shift pattern as part of a wider support team What We’re Looking For • Experience working with children and families in challenging or complex situations, • Background in roles such as:, • Family Support Worker, • Parenting Practitioner, • Youth / Outreach Worker, • Residential or Early Help services, • Strong understanding of:, • Trauma-informed practice, • Behaviour support and de-escalation techniques, • Attachment and relational working, • Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries, • Confidence working independently within a home environment, • Full UK driving licence (essential) Desirable (but not essential) • Training in Team Teach, PRICE, MAPA or similar (Training Available), • Experience in edge-of-care / family preservation work, • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 3/4 Children & Young People, Health & Social Care) What We Offer • Competitive hourly rate with weekly pay, • Structured support and guidance throughout the placement, • Opportunity to work on a meaningful, outcome-focused intervention, • Further work opportunities available, as part of our wider social care team ApplyIf you are passionate about working with families to create lasting change and preventing children entering care, we’d love to hear from you.
