Due to the growth of the business, we’re expanding our team! Join our finance department as a Group Finance Assistant, supporting the wider finance function. OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To work independently and as part of a team in a busy finance department and to maintain good relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Playing a key role within the finance function for the housebuilding and property entities within the Group. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Banking • Posting and allocation of cash receipts/payments from the bank statement to the cashbook for the housebuilding accounts, on a daily basis, and associated journals., • Posting house sales journals that match to completion statements, • Bank reconciliations on a daily and monthly basis, for the housebuilding accounts., • Weekly BACS payment runs, • Ad-hoc payments from all bank accounts., • Assist with other treasury responsibilities, including petty cash, • Deal with the processing and payment of expenses and credit cards Purchase and Sales Ledger • Processing of purchase invoices, matching invoices to purchase orders and chasing any queries with the relevant parties in a timely manner, • Raising of both sundry and contract sales invoices within the COINS system, • Monthly supplier statement reconciliations, • Credit control and chasing all outstanding balances when they become due, • Month-end and financial year-end procedures including reconciliations Other • Processing of CIS sub-contractor certificates, with appropriate tax deductions, • Key user of the COINS system supporting the ongoing implementation. This will include cross training of other team members, transfer and reconciliation of data between systems and system maintenance., • Manage the accounts emails and post as required, • Production of P11D information as required, • Maintain staff purchases as required, • Development and maintenance of standard operating procedures, • Deal with adhoc queries and requests KEY CONTACTS: This role reports directly to the Group Financial Accountant and also works closely with other members of the finance team. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This role is based at the Banks Group head office in Meadowfield. PERSON SPECIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: ESSENTIAL: • Previous experience in a finance assistant role, preference with experience in housebuilding business, • Previous treasury experience, • To be able to work independently and as part of a team., • Previous experience with COINS, • Proficient in Excel DESIRABLE: • To be conversant with other software packages used by the Accounts Team - Access Focal point and Access Dimensions PERSONAL QUALITIES/COMPETENCIES: • Customer orientation, integrity and the ability to lead through influence., • Customer champion - good listener, consistently delivers on their commitments and promises, and knows when to accept and when to challenge., • Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail., • Good judgement, showing logical decision making, and a hands-on approach., • Logical planning ability.
