Location: Edinburgh (Remote– occasional on-site as required) Contract: 6 Months Start Date: ASAP Rate: Market Rate - Inside IR35 About the Role We are seeking an experienced PSA Engineer (DTS) to join a leading technology and transformation project within the energy and utilities sector. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on maintaining, configuring, and optimising Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS) environments. You’ll play a key role in ensuring high availability and reliability of critical EMS applications while contributing to ongoing development, model validation, and defect resolution. Key Responsibilities • Gather requirements and define Epics and User Stories., • Administer and optimise EMS applications (preferably GE PowerOn Reliance (XA21) or AEMS)., • Configure and troubleshoot protocols such as ICCP, IEC, DNP3, Modbus, and data modelling (XML/JSON)., • Perform model validation and event creation for Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS)., • Implement fixes, patches, and upgrades in live customer systems., • Conduct code reviews, deployments, and testing activities., • Support and restore EMS services during incidents. Skills & Experience Required • 5+ years’ experience in Power System Applications (Power Flow, State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, AGC, DTS)., • Strong technical understanding of EMS/SCADA systems and related applications., • Proficiency in Linux and Windows environments., • Knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server databases., • Experience with C/C++, PERL, Shell scripting, or SQL scripting., • Familiarity with simulation tools (Simulated RTU/IED/Console)., • Excellent problem-solving skills with experience in troubleshooting complex EMS systems. Desirable • Experience with GE XA21, eTerra, or AEMS platforms., • Hands-on experience with DTS, ADMS, or SCADA., • Exposure to QTest or Grip tools., • Strong understanding of electrical transmission modelling.
