MB930: Design ManagerLocation: WorkingtonSalary: £60,000 - £70,000 + £5,750 Car AllowanceWorking Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per weekAdditional Company Benefits: Exceptional Career Development Opportunities, Company Car/Car Allowance (Depending on job grade), Pension matched up to 8%, 25 days annual leave – plus holiday (opportunity to buy/sell leave will be implemented from January 2026), Private medical insurance, Free 24/7 EAPOverview:First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic national construction business who are looking to recruit a Design Manager on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Workington depot.Duties and Responsibilities: \n\n • Manage the process, resolution and communication of all design queries as part of the project.\n, • Review contract requirements and ensure compliance with requirements.\n, • Raise requests for further information internally and externally from the whole project team.\n, • Collaborate in the preparation of design programmes.\n, • Manage communication with the Client design representative throughout the contract period.\n, • Produce monthly reports on design progress and any other design-specific elements.\n, • Manage and update the design deliverable schedule.\n, • Review all design deliverables and ensure that they are completed to the expected standard. Challenge and resolve when not.\n, • Manage and chair design reviews with the project team.\n, • Manage and chair all design interface meetings with external parties.\n, • Review designs for compliance with contract requirements and tender intentions.\n, • Ensure compliance with design approval processes required by the contract.\n, • Routinely monitor and report on progress of the design and explain any necessary actions.\n, • Collaborate with the engagement of external suppliers/subcontractors.\n, • Ensure the document register is completed by designers correctly and issued periodically.\n, • Manage provision of drawings to the project team (document control).\n, • Establish technical query procedure.\n, • Review all design communications and collaboratively resolve queries.\n, • Agree changes with the project team in accordance with project authority protocol.\n, • Issue instructions to the Designer in accordance with project authority protocol.\n, • Implement change order management.\n, • Approve the designer’s quality management system.\n, • Lead Design Reviews with approval and acceptance bodies.\n, • Support Assurance functions with design-specific requirements.\n\n Skills and Qualifications: \n\n • Wide-ranging understanding and working knowledge of construction methods and outputs and can coach others.\n, • Must have spent 12 months completing designs as part of a consultancy or temporary works design department.\n, • Will have both substantial construction and design experience.\n, • Ability to deputise for the Project Manager if required.\n, • Understands the Principal Designer Duties including ERIC.\n\n MB930: Design ManagerLocation: WorkingtonSalary: £60,000 - £70,000 + £5,750 Car AllowanceWorking Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per weekAdditional Company Benefits: Exceptional Career Development Opportunities, Company Car/Car Allowance (Depending on job grade), Pension matched up to 8%, 25 days annual leave – plus holiday (opportunity to buy/sell leave will be implemented from January 2026), Private medical insurance, Free 24/7 EAP
