Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) We are seeking a confident, experienced and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive primary schools autism unit in Bath. This is a full-time position with an immediate start, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils with autism. You will be predominantly working with pre-verbal pupils with autism across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Class sizes are small, typically 58 pupils, ensuring a focused and supportive learning environment. This role is temporary, with the potential to become permanent following a successful period. Pay rate: £110-£130 per day (subject to experience and qualifications). This role is full-time during school hours, term-time only. Responsibilities include: Supporting pupils learning through carefully planned, appropriate activities and lessons Delivering pre-planned sessions in the absence of the class teacher Confidently stepping up to lead the whole class when required (with a minimum of two teaching assistants (Tas) in each class at all times) Working as a TA when not covering teacher absence, providing high-quality classroom and individual support Promoting communication, engagement, and independence in pupils with complex needs Qualifications and attributes: Has previous experience working with children with autism (non-negotiable) Has experience working as an HLTA or in a similar capacity within a primary setting Is confident leading a class and able to take full responsibility in the teachers absence Has experience supporting pre-verbal pupils and understands alternative communication approaches (e.g., PECS, Makaton, visual supports) Is patient, adaptable, and passionate about inclusive education Works effectively as part of a collaborative team By registering with Hanson recruitment, we can offer you: Top rates of pay We pay PAYE to all our candidates Ongoing support at all aspects of your role as a SEN teaching assistant Term-time work during weekdays Ability to take time-off during exam/holiday periods Dedicated education consultant support One to one training session could be provided before you start your role by our SEN consultants with over a decade experience in SEN and Education Recruitment Great referral scheme - recommend us and you can receive up to £150 (Terms and Conditions on our website) Hanson Recruitment is a prominent Education Recruitment agency in Bristol and we are offering top rates of pay, training and support and referral bonus.
