Our esteemed client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking a skilled Product Assurance Engineer to join their Future Systems R&D team. This pivotal role provides independent oversight across bid work, risk-based assurance, and design governance. Youll lead quality planning aligned with AQAP 2105, guide engineering decisions, and ensure compliance through cross-functional collaboration and supplier/customer engagement. Responsibilities: 1. Leadership in Bid Work & Quality Planning Lead quality input in bids, embedding assurance from the start. Create and tailor AQAP 2105-aligned Quality Plans for R&D. Collaborate across teams to set realistic quality goals. Integrate compliance and risk strategies early to reduce project risks. 2. Risk-Based Assurance & Decision-Making Promote risk-based assurance to guide R&D decisions. Run risk workshops using FMEA/DFMEA. Support trade-offs between innovation, compliance, and risk. Ensure risk documentation meets contract and regulatory standards. 3. Design & Development Assurance Ensure AQAP 2105 compliance throughout R&D. Lead Design Assurance Reviews against defence standards. Conduct independent assessments to validate design and safety. Support V&V planning to ensure reliability and integrity. 4. Cross-Functional Engagement & Governance Act as quality lead across R&D, programme, safety, and compliance. Provide assurance to senior stakeholders on quality and risk. Maintain strong config/change control for traceability. Present assurance reports, risk logs, and compliance evidence. 5. Supplier & Customer Assurance Align supplier outputs with Quality Plans and risk criteria. Support audits, reviews, and regulatory checks. Drive improvements in assurance, risk, and team collaboration. What do you need?: Technical & Domain Expertise Defence Compliance: Proficient in AQAP 2105, DEF STANs, AS9100D, and related standards. Quality Planning: Skilled in creating contract-aligned Quality Plans. Risk Analysis: Experienced in FMEA/DFMEA for informed decision-making. V&V: Knowledgeable in defence R&D test planning and validation. Config Management: Understands traceability, control, and impact in complex environments. Leadership & Decision-Making Bid Strategy: Shapes assurance plans during proposals, balancing innovation and compliance. Risk Decisions: Guides teams on risk vs. feasibility trade-offs. Stakeholder Influence: Engages senior leaders, engineers, and regulators. Supplier/Customer Assurance: Reviews supplier quality and represents assurance in client interactions. Communication & Reporting Documentation: Writes and presents risk, quality, and compliance reports. Governance: Delivers assurance updates to executives and auditors. Collaboration: Works across engineering, safety, legal, and procurement teams. Problem-Solving & Improvement RCA & CAPA: Leads investigations and corrective actions. Process Optimisation: Applies lessons learned to improve assurance. Adaptability: Navigates R&D uncertainty with evidence-based decisions. What happens now?
