The Role We are hiring a Payroll & HR Specialist to own day-to-day payroll execution and core HR administration across a multi-state hourly workforce. This role is highly operational and detail-oriented, with real accountability for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. You will work closely with Finance, Operations, and leadership to ensure employees are hired, paid correctly, on time, and in compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws. Payroll Operations • Run multi-state, multi-entity payroll for hourly and salaried employees., • Ensure accurate timekeeping, overtime, premiums, and deductions., • Manage payroll taxes, filings, garnishments, and year-end processes (W-2s)., • Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies., • Serve as primary point of contact for payroll questions. HR Administration & Compliance • Manage onboarding/offboarding, I-9/E-Verify, and new hire reporting., • Maintain accurate employee records across HRIS and payroll systems., • Support benefits administration and provider coordination., • Ensure compliance with wage-and-hour laws and paid leave requirements., • Assist with audits, workers’ compensation, and unemployment claims. Systems, Process & Documentation • Administer and optimize HRIS and payroll platforms (e.g., Rippling,)., • Maintain SOPs and documented workflows., • Identify automation and process improvement opportunities., • Support scale from 150 → 550+ employees. Cross-Functional Support • Partner with Operations on scheduling and labor compliance., • Support Finance with payroll data and labor cost analysis., • Escalate compliance risks proactively. What You’ve Done • 3–6+ years of payroll and HR administration experience., • Multi-state payroll experience with hourly workforces., • Strong knowledge of wage-and-hour laws and I-9/E-Verify., • Experience with modern HRIS/payroll systems., • High attention to detail and confidentiality., • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
