The role requires an RN or LPN and a total of 30 hours in building weekly. The remaining 10 hours would be worked on site only if called in and determined needed by the Nurse Manager. The on-site hours are for the night shift (9 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.) with regular schedules of either Sunday/Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday/Saturday. The on-call portion rotates, covering Wednesday and one weekend day every other week. When on call, you are required to have your work phone on you and be ready to come in if needed. The PSS will meet with participants at OHSU, in the community, in homes, and in the hospital where deliveries occur. They will also participate in hospital/clinic-based maternity and recovery group care, assist with some research activities (e.g., facilitating surveys, logging visits in a database), and attend OHSU research meetings. This role will play a major part in supporting informed decision-making, empowered choice in care, and preparation for successful birth and postpartum options.
