Job DescriptionDescription: The Opportunity The Information Technology (IT) Specialist will assist Regional Support Staff and school staff and students in maintaining and using technology to meet KIPP NC’s instructional objectives. The IT Specialist will have responsibility for network upkeep and maintenance, hardware support and repair, and software installation and support. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the IT Specialist will pride themselves on delivering a high level of customer service - speaking professional and friendly, working collaboratively to solve problems, and engaging in professional development opportunities. The IT Specialist will be an integral member of the KIPP North Carolina Operations and IT Teams, which will be responsible for driving the overall direction and strategy for staff recruitment, development, and retention. Key Responsibilities • Works collaboratively with Regional Support Team colleagues and school-based staff to creatively problem solve technology issues that arise, • Provides reliable and excellent customer service to all staff, students, and families, • Uses a warm, friendly tone and is patient and assertive with all stakeholders, • Troubleshoots software and hardware issues over the telephone and in person for students and staff, • Is on-site with KIPP Change Academy and KIPP Academy Charlotte 5 days a week, • Configures new computers, iPads, and other devices at all KIPP NC school sites, occasionally transporting equipment as needed, • Researches solutions to technology problems; serves as resource to staff in answering questions and assisting in effective utilization of technology, • Provides staff training on a variety of technology issues, • Installs and troubleshoots other classroom technology (projectors, document cameras, Smartboards) as needed, • Tracks all end-user help desk needs in ticketing system; maintains accurate time spent, notes, and other documentation in ticketing system, • Assists with the purchase and acquisition of new technology and equipment; maintains accurate inventory of all that technology and equipment, • Maintains records on the configuration, installation, warranty, licenses, and allocation of computer software, hardware, and/or network systems, • Installs, maintains, and repairs network equipment and software, • Maintains network security to protect against viruses, hackers, and other damages, • Maintains confidentiality and integrity of electronic records, • Creates systems to support appropriate internet usage by students, • Provides support to the annual eRate filing process; assists in the preparation of technology grant applications, • Assists with various projects such as school year start up preparation and staff PD events, • Professionally represents KIPP NC in interactions with families, community, staff, and students; resolves conflict in a professional manner, • Assists in maintaining KIPP NC websiteRequirements: Qualifications KIPP NC’s Information Technology Specialist candidates will have the following: • A deep commitment to the mission of KIPP NC and an unwavering belief in the potential of all our students, • A strong desire to collaborate with school leaders and Regional Support Staff teammates in service to a new KIPP region growing out of two exceptionally strong ones, • 2-3 years of IT specialist experience; must have a demonstrated competency and ability to provide support a wide spectrum of functions, including:, • Windows, • Google platforms, • Network connectivity, • User accounts and authentication, • Software (ex. MS Office, Adobe Acrobat), • Printing, • Hardware (PC, laptop, ENO/Smartboards, projectors, doc cams, iPads, Apple IOS), • Email and Web, • Various application platforms in use by teachers and students (Clever, Zoom, Fish Tank, iReady, mCLASS, Amplify, Great Minds), • An understanding of the specific, unique characteristics of public charter schools, NC-specific knowledge a plus, • Outstanding leadership and management skills, particularly as it relates to building teams, working through others, promoting collaboration, managing conflict, goal setting, and holding people accountable, • An entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated success in building a program, department or organization, • The flexibility needed to accommodate the breadth and depth of responsibilities and priorities, • Outstanding written, speaking, and organizational skills including excellence in backwards planning long-term goals and accountability and progress monitoring systems, • Ability to interact with a broad range of stakeholders with different interests and needs, • Possess a deep commitment to both racial equity and improving the lives of kids from low-income communities; experience working within predominantly Black, Brown, and/or low-income communities, • Understanding and willingness to work in both rural and urban communities, including exhibiting resourcefulness and willingness to travel up to five hours within North Carolina multiple days per week based on need, • Must live in North Carolina, Charlotte preferred - will be required to be on-site at Charlotte schools 5 days per week and may also be asked to travel to Durham or Northampton Counties
