Job DescriptionDescription: Hybrid 3 On in Charlotte, NC The organization seeks a Technical Lead to provide technical direction and architectural leadership for backend platform services, application integrations, and data-driven systems. The role will partner with senior backend engineers, data engineers, product managers, and platform teams to ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, and aligned to long-term platform strategy. The Technical Lead is hands-on, sets technical direction, drives design decisions, and maintains operational ownership. Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. Rate: $80.00 to $75.00/hr. w2 Responsibilities: Responsibilities • Own and evolve technical architecture for platform services, application integrations, and data pipelines., • Define reference architectures, integration patterns, and platform standards to guide teams., • Lead technical design reviews to ensure scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability., • Balance short-term delivery with long-term platform health and sustainability., • Act as or partner with Product Owner to create epics and stories for execution., • Perform ad-hoc analysis of incoming features to scope efforts and align technical partners., • Guide the design of shared backend services and integration layers used across teams., • Establish best practices for APIs, event-driven architectures, data contracts, and schema evolution., • Ensure consistent integration patterns across batch and real-time streaming systems., • Serve as escalation point for complex cross-system integrations., • Contribute production-quality code in Python and FastAPI using AWS services., • Design and review systems leveraging AWS Lambda, ECS Fargate, Kafka, AWS Glue, and PySpark., • Guide data ingestion and transformation using AWS DMS, streaming, and batch pipelines., • Ensure solutions are observable, testable, and operationally sound., • Provide leadership for Terraform-based infrastructure as code., • Define standards for CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and environment management., • Guide networking, load balancing, service discovery, and scaling decisions., • Ensure infrastructure and delivery pipelines support safe, repeatable, low-risk releases., • Participate in on-call rotation and serve as senior escalation during incidents., • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews., • Drive improvements in resiliency, monitoring, alerting, and automation., • Mentor engineers through design guidance, code reviews, and technical coaching., • Raise engineering quality through standards, documentation, and best practices., • Partner with Product and TPMs on technical scope, sequencing, and delivery plans., • 8+ years of experience in backend, platform, or distributed systems engineering., • Proven experience acting as a technical lead or architecture owner., • Strong proficiency in Python and cloud-native backend development., • Deep experience with AWS services and distributed architectures., • Hands-on experience with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines., • Experience supporting production systems with on-call responsibilities., • Strong understanding of streaming and batch integration patterns., • Kafka, AWS Glue, PySpark, and AWS DMS experience., • FastAPI experience for service development., • ECS Fargate, AWS Lambda, Route 53, and AWS Load Balancers experience., • Experience with Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL) and DynamoDB., • Data warehousing and analytical modeling concepts (preferred)., • Experience designing platforms, shared services, or internal developer platforms (preferred)., • Familiarity with event-driven, microservices, and API-first architectures (preferred)., • Experience with enterprise application integrations such as ERP, CRM, and SaaS platforms (preferred)., • Amazon Redshift experience (preferred).
