Job Summary: The Warehouse Manager (WM) is responsible for ensuring the overall performance and continuous improvement of the Warehouse team, systems, and equipment, driving excellence while supporting the companys mission. They approach their work with an ownership mindset, demonstrated through accountability, initiative, and a focus on long-term success for both the company and its stakeholders. The WM plays a key role in coaching the Warehouse team to foster a safe, positive, and growth-oriented work environment, while also facilitating skill development. The role encompasses the management and enhancement of critical warehouse functions, including shipping, receiving, pest management, allergen separation, and compliance with food safety regulations. Additionally, the WM oversees warehouse equipment, continuously seeking innovations to improve operational efficiency and prepare for future company growth. By identifying areas for improvement, the WM collaborates with the Director of Operations to develop and execute strategic initiatives that drive the long-term success of the company. Achieving objectives requires strong collaboration and clear communication across departments, with a particular focus on inventory management in partnership with the Director of Operations, Purchasing, and Production. Exceptional attention to detail and consistent follow-through are essential for success in this role. Essential Functions: • Leadership and Team Management, • Manage daily activities, providing training, mentorship, and performance reviews. Promote a safety-focused culture and inspire commitment to organizational excellence by leading by example and holding the team accountable for performance outcomes., • Recognize and communicate the companys purpose and direction, fostering alignment with organizational goals by inspiring commitment to excellence, leading by example, and holding the team accountable for achieving performance outcomes., • Responsible for hiring, firing, and overall personnel management in collaboration with HR, the Director of Operations, and the CEO., • Maintain open communication with the Operations Director and other department managers to support alignment and collaboration. Represent the warehouse team in internal meetings and provide training and education to other departments., • Effectively create a compelling view of the purpose and direction of the organization and effectively communicate that vision, in support of achieving it., • Policies and Procedures, • Develop and maintain a warehouse operational plan to meet delivery timelines and optimize labor budgets., • Create annual budgets to manage staffing levels and minimize variances., • Operations and Efficiency, • Analyze and implement warehouse systems to improve efficiency and inventory accuracy., • Develop and track key processes, set measurable goals, and monitor progress to allocate resources effectively and meet or exceed targets., • Proactively create and introduce new KPIs, metrics, tools, and strategies to increase warehouse efficiency and effectiveness., • Foster a culture of continuous improvement to adapt to changing demands and support the company's future growth., • Oversee department budget and warehouse supply orders. Develop operational plans to optimize labor costs, manage staffing levels, and minimize budget variances., • Collaborate with the Maintenance and Repair Team to maintain existing equipment, coordinate timely repairs and preventative maintenance, and make recommendations for upgrades., • Safety and Compliance, • Promote a safety-focused culture. Address safety concerns promptly, leveraging support from Safety Leadership and Operations Management., • Ensure a safe, sanitary, and clean work environment, adhering to company standards and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, food safety, and other industry-specific standards. Proactively monitor and adapt to evolving safety and compliance requirements., • Quality and Inventory Management, • Ensure incoming products meet quality standards and work to refine those standards as necessary., • Oversee warehouse shipping, receiving, and storage processes to ensure customers consistently receive the high-quality products and exceptional service expected from Hummingbird., • Support the implementation of inventory control procedures in cooperation with the inventory team, including weekly and annual physical inventories., • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager to manage pests, • Innovation and Problem-Solving, • Approach complex operational challenges with creativity and innovation, developing long-term solutions that balance immediate needs with scalability, safety, and efficiency improvements., • Lead and manage the implementation of warehouse projects in collaboration with relevant stakeholders., • Use all company systems in compliance with established policies and procedures, including workplace safety and food safety policies and procedures., • Ensure team members follow established policies and procedures., • Develop and manage the annual budget for the Warehouse., • Participate and contribute to strong safety culture by working safe and supporting safety with Coworkers., • Help generate healthy company profits consistent with our mission and principles., • Uphold the highest standard of food safety by following all policies and procedures in the Food Safety Plan applicable to the job title., • Communicate in-person, via phone, and over email in a friendly and professional manner., • Participate in department meetings and trainings as needed and/or scheduled., • Complete company-sponsored training in Lean and Kaizen culture, use Lean and Kaizen principles in collaboration with Coworkers to reduce waste, improve customer outcomes, and support company goals and objectives., • Comply with all applicable company, governmental, and regulatory agency policies and guidelines., • Give great customer service, understanding that every relationship counts. Job Requirements and Qualifications: Education: A college degree or equivalent experience is required. Bachelor's degree in Business Management, or related field, preferred. Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates): • OSHA Fork Lift Certification (must be obtained through Hummingbird Wholesales in-house training)., • Reasonable suspicion training is required within the first 3 months of hire., • Ability to effectively organize, staff, and direct the warehouse team to achieve departmental goals., • Proficient in planning, implementing, and controlling the warehouse cost budget and schedules to optimize resources., • Demonstrated ability to analyze and address supply and labor cost variances with a focus on continuous improvement., • Skilled in operating warehouse equipment and the ability to articulate needed improvements or repairs., • Exceptional organizational and communication skills to ensure seamless operations and collaboration across teams., • Strong analytical and conceptual skills to solve complex problems and innovate within the warehouse environment., • Project management: ability to engage upper management, Warehouse Team, and other departments to bring projects to completion., • Advanced math skills and proficiency with computer systems and software to support data-driven decision-making., • In-depth knowledge of sanitation protocols and food safety standards, and workplace safety regulations., • Proven ability to train, mentor, and inspire team members, fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive work environment., • Detail-oriented, well-organized, • Effective oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal communication skills, • Ability to work well individually and with others, • Proficient computer skills. Experience: • 5+ years experience in a warehouse leadership role, with a demonstrated ability to drive performance excellence in people and process is required., • Experience in meeting regulatory standards with Occupational Safety and Health Administration is preferred., • Fork Lift Experience preferred., • Experience using inventory management software and performing physical inventories is required., • Pest control experience preferred., • Natural Foods experience, whether personal or professional, with the natural foods industry, is a plus. Physical, Mental, and Visual Requirements: • While Hummingbird Wholesale strives to create opportunities for desk workers to have regular tasks which get them up and moving around, the Warehouse Manager spends the majority of their time in a stationary position at a desk. The coworker must be able to operate a computer for many hours a day., • In support of some essential job functions, the position requires the Warehouse Manager to work in commercial food production and warehouse environments. While in these environments, the coworker must be able to safely comply with all company and regulatory rules and guidelines., • The position requires frequent and repeated exposure to major food allergens, including but not limited to, wheat, tree nuts, dairy, and soybeans., • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this Warehouse Manager position. Other Information (travel required, workplace environment, etc.): • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs., squat, and stand for long periods., • Ability to operate barrel jack, moving liquid drums weighing up to 700 lbs., • Occasional day or overnight trips may be required to attend training or industry events., • Must be able to operate machinery, including electric and manual Pallet Jacks and Forklifts., • May occasionally receive calls or other communications from the company outside working hours in response to product recalls or other urgent matters., • The Warehouse Manager may work in a shared space with frequent interruptions., • Travel to visit potential or current vendors, customers, or attend trade shows, educational conferences, or industry events will be necessary throughout the year.
