Job Summary: The Production Lead assists the Production Manager (PM) in developing Production Coworkers in creating a safe and positive work environment and engaging in progressive skill development. The Production Lead plays a key role in training new hires as well as providing ongoing training for existing Coworkers. The Production Lead finds thoughtful solutions to daily challenges while focusing on Hummingbirds Mission & Values, team engagement, efficiency, and accountability. The Production Lead must have a full understanding of processes, scheduling, product quality requirements, and take a hands-on approach to troubleshooting as challenges arise. Identifying areas of improvement and assisting the Production Manager (PM) in creating and executing strategies and tactics is paramount to the departments success. Goals and objectives are met through collaboration and effective communication with supporting departments - diligent communication and follow-through with exceptional management of details is a key strength for success in this role. Essential Functions: • Demonstrated ability to fulfill the duties of Production Associate I, II & III in assigned areas., • Support the PM in creating a culture of safety, engagement, positivity, and creative problem-solving with Production Coworkers. Collaborates to remove barriers to efficient, safe work., • Check in regularly with each production Coworker in assigned areas and report any personnel or workflow concerns to the PM., • Monitor and coordinate as necessary production schedules for multiple production areas. Schedule floating labor between areas to reduce out of stock instances and support company sales., • Work alongside team members to complete daily work as needed., • Train and coach production Coworkers in accomplishing workflow tasks in a safe and efficient manner according to standard procedures. Follow up to ensure Coworkers meet standards and get support from the manager for areas of improvement and acknowledgement of extraordinary work., • Drive standard work with the use, development, and maintenance of policies, procedures, forms, and training materials., • Keep procedures up to date and in use according to company procedure system., • Recognize, prioritize, plan, and implement needed strategic improvements in Production systems for efficiency, inventory accuracy, quality, and ergonomics in coordination with PM., • Take personal accountability for the success of the department and seek PM support when challenges outside of responsibilities occur., • Monitor and maintain high quality in products produced in assigned areas to provide a consistent customer experience. Coordinate with ingredient purchasers and Quality Assurance as necessary., • Collaborate with the PM to accurately set, track, and achieve Production Key Performance Indicators (KPI). Report as assigned to company on department progress., • Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of production inventory counts in assigned Production areas, support other production Coworkers to do the same., • Find, troubleshoot, and solve inventory and Fishbowl manufacture order discrepancies in assigned areas in collaboration with team and with support from PM as needed., • Coordinate out of stock instances and special orders with customer service and warehouse departments., • Oversee equipment function in assigned areas, performing basic troubleshooting and coordinating complex repairs with internal and external resources., • Implementation and ongoing support of approved Food Safety, Workplace Safety, and Allergen management programs in assigned areas., • Provide regular feedback to Manager regarding teams performance for ongoing development and reviews., • Approach complex production challenges with creativity. Develop and propose long-term solutions that balance immediate needs with scalability, safety and efficiency, • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential data as required by law and company policy., • Serve as interim PM during short-term vacancies, ensuring operational continuity and stability., • Use all company systems in compliance with established policies and procedures, including workplace safety and food safety policies and procedures., • Ensure team members follow established policies and procedures., • Participate and contribute to a strong safety culture by working safely and supporting safety with Coworkers., • Help generate healthy company profits consistent with our mission and principles., • Uphold the highest standard of food safety by following all policies and procedures in the Food Safety Plan applicable to the job title., • Communicate in-person, via phone, and over email in a friendly and professional manner., • Participate in department meetings and trainings as needed and/or scheduled., • Complete company-sponsored training in Lean and Kaizen culture, use Lean and Kaizen principles in collaboration with Coworkers to reduce waste, improve customer outcomes, and support company goals and objectives., • Comply with all applicable company, governmental, and regulatory agency policies and guidelines., • Give great customer service, understanding that every relationship counts. Job Requirements and Qualifications Education:High school diploma or equivalent professional experience required. Experience: • 2 years experience working in the Food Industry is required., • Natural Foods experience preferred. Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates): • PCQI Certification preferred. Skill Requirements: • Detail-oriented, able to read a detailed procedure or form document and quickly synthesize information., • Ability to communicate with English-only speakers and Spanish-only speakers is required., • Excellent follow-through on assigned projects and tasks., • Expert time management. Ability to accurately plan work tasks in a changing environment and recalibrate as necessary., • Knowledge of and attention to sanitation and food safety., • Strong fundamental math skills., • Strong computer literacy ability to find information through computer sources and record actions using multiple computer programs for communication, organization and planning (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Fishbowl, FileMaker)., • Avid learner, ability and desire to learn new skills., • Detail-oriented, well-organized., • Effective oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal communication skills., • Ability to work well individually and with others. Physical, Mental, and Visual Requirements: • Able to repeatedly lift up to 35 pounds. Squat, bend, and stand for long periods of time. Occasionally lift up to 60 pounds., • In support of some essential job functions, the position requires the Production Lead to work in commercial food production and warehouse environments.
