Job Description Job Title: Service Technician Pay: $22/hr Shift: 6am / Monday - Friday Location: West Sacramento Job Description This role offers the opportunity to work as a multi-functional Service Technician supporting a large fleet of modular buildings and mobile office trailers across a wide North American branch network. You will inspect units, perform a wide range of repairs and readiness work, and ensure each building meets quality and safety standards before delivery to customers. The position combines hands-on construction, general labor, and warehouse tasks in a dynamic, outdoor work environment. Responsibilities • Inspect modular buildings and mobile office trailers to assess overall condition, identify necessary repairs, and determine scope of work., • Perform repairs and readiness work on mobile office trailers, including framing and finish carpentry, light electrical tasks, flooring, plumbing, painting, running gear, and other aspects of modular building repair., • Conduct check-in and check-out inspections of off-rent buildings by physically inspecting units to determine required repairs and identify billable damages for customer invoicing., • Create floor plan drawings as needed to support repair, modification, or customization work on modular units., • Perform modifications to modular buildings and trailers as requested, ensuring work meets quality and safety expectations., • Maintain proper inventory levels of equipment, tools, parts, and value-added products required to complete service tasks efficiently., • Provide courteous customer service in person and over the phone, clearly explaining repair work, services performed, and any recommended follow-up actions., • Ensure trailers and modular units are fully prepared and ready for scheduled delivery dates at the required quality standards., • Complete all required paperwork and documentation for deliveries, pick-ups, inspections, and service calls accurately and on time., • Perform HVAC system checks and maintenance in accordance with company guidelines and procedures., • Carry out service-related tasks in the yard, including loading, unloading, staging, and moving units or materials as requested., • Operate a sit-down forklift safely to move materials, equipment, and modular components as needed., • Act in accordance with company safety, transportation, and environmental policies and procedures, promoting a safe workplace at all times., • Participate in periodic safety meetings, training sessions, and safety observation programs, including initiatives such as DuPont STOP™., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, both in the yard and within modular units under repair., • Operate a company vehicle safely, maintaining a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record free from points., • Support field assignments and perform duties at off-site locations as business needs require., • Use power tools and hand tools correctly and safely while performing construction, repair, and general labor tasks., • Assist with warehouse and material handling activities, including shipping, receiving, and organizing inventory., • Contribute to an efficient use of resources by following standard operating procedures and minimizing waste in materials and time. Essential Skills • Experience in general labor, construction labor, yard work, or a similar hands-on trade environment., • Warehouse operations, including loading, unloading, and material handling., • Ability to perform framing and finish carpentry work on modular buildings and trailers., • Basic electrical skills suitable for light electrical work on modular units., • Experience with flooring installation, repair, or maintenance., • Basic plumbing skills applicable to modular building repair and maintenance., • Ability to perform painting and finishing work on interior and exterior surfaces., • Proficiency in using power tools and hand tools safely and effectively., • Sit-down forklift operating experience, with the ability to operate forklifts safely as needed., • Capability to perform HVAC system checks and basic maintenance following company guidelines., • Strong attention to detail and an eye for quality when inspecting and repairing modular units., • Commitment to safety and adherence to established safety, transportation, and environmental policies., • Ability to read, understand, and create simple floor plan drawings when required., • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers in person and over the phone., • Ability to complete paperwork and documentation accurately for inspections, deliveries, pick-ups, and service calls., • Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record free from points., • Physical ability to work in an outdoor, labor-intensive environment, including lifting, carrying, bending, and working on feet for extended periods. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience building or servicing trailers, modular buildings, or mobile office units., • Prior work on construction projects, school facilities, or building additions using modular sections., • Familiarity with yard operations on large lots, including organizing units and materials over a wide area., • Experience in shipping, receiving, and warehouse logistics., • Ttrades such as carpentry, flooring, or general construction., • Comfort working with multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and safety., • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support field assignments or off-site work as business needs evolve. Work Environment This role is based on a large, approximately 17-acre lot dedicated to building, servicing, and preparing modular trailers for lease to construction projects, schools, building additions, and other space solution needs. You will work primarily outdoors in the elements, including hot conditions during the summer and cold, wet conditions during the winter, and should be comfortable working in all weather. The environment includes yard operations, warehouse activities, and hands-on work inside modular units, using a range of power tools, hand tools, and equipment. You will operate sit-down forklifts and may drive company vehicles as part of daily tasks. Work involves physical labor such as loading, unloading, material handling, and moving trailers and components around the yard. The setting is safety-focused and procedure-driven, with regular safety meetings and assessments to maintain a secure and organized workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Sacramento, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
