Job Description Los Angeles CIRCLE Response Team Lead (Float , Per Diem) at Canopy Roots About the LA CIRCLE Program Canopy Roots is a contracted provider with The City of Los Angeles, Mayor's Office of Community Safety (MOCS), to operate the Los Angeles CIRCLE (Crisis and Incident Response through Community-led Engagement) program. This is a 24/7 unarmed response program that deploys trained teams to address non-urgent and non-violent LAPD 911 calls related to unhoused individuals experiencing crisis. Program goals include disrupting the reciprocal relationship between houselessness and the criminal justice system, de-escalating and supporting stabilization to people experiencing homelessness, and promoting sustained positive outcomes for community members through compassionate and trauma-informed intervention and connection to appropriate services and resources, including case management. Canopy Roots will be operating the CIRCLE Program in the Hollywood Zone of Los Angeles. About the role Canopy Roots is an innovative mental health organization based in Minnesota that offers culturally affirming crisis response services. The LA CIRCLE (Crisis and Incident Response through Community-Led Engagement) Response Team Lead is responsible for providing immediate, compassionate, and trauma-informed support to individuals experiencing homelessness or crises in Los Angeles. This position plays a critical role in de-escalating situations, connecting individuals with essential services, and working within the LA CIRCLE team to respond to non-emergency situations that do not require law enforcement intervention. The CIRCLE Response Team Lead will serve as a bridge between the unhoused population and critical services, focusing on safety, care, and empowerment. This role reports directly to the program Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC) / Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Job Details Start Date: As soon as possible Location: Los Angeles, CA Hiring Salary Range: $29.81 - $34.62/hour; Hourly wage will depend on your skills and demonstrated readiness for the role Hours/Day: Friday-Saturday 7:00am-3:30pm, Friday-Saturday 3:30- 11:30pm, Sunday- Monday 11:00pm-7:30am, Per Diem This role is primarily community based, with required attendance at weekly staff meetings taking place either online or in the office. Job Type: Part-Time, Per Diem Non-Exempt Essential Job Functions • In partnership with Response Team Outreach Advocate, respond rapidly to diverted incidents from the City, including, but not limited to LAPD, designated city agencies, and city-designated partners,, • Coordinate directly with dispatch systems to ensure effective communication, maintain safety, and plan appropriate community responses, • Lead response interventions in collaboration with partners to address the needs of community members experiencing homelessness, mental health crises, substance abuse, or other non-violent situations, • Utilize trauma-informed and culturally responsive care and harm-reduction approaches to de-escalate crises, provide support, and guide individuals through difficult situations with compassion, ensuring the safety of both the individual and the community, • Build rapport with unhoused individuals and others in need, addressing both immediate concerns and long-term needs., • Conduct needs assessments and connect individuals to essential services, including shelters, mental health care, substance use treatment, and housing programs., • Assist clients in accessing services by providing transportation, helping with benefit applications, or advocating with service providers., • Collaborate with housing agencies, shelters, mental health services, case managers, community partners, and LA CIRCLE program partners to ensure timely and comprehensive care., • Serve as a liaison between clients and healthcare, housing, and legal systems, advocating for their rights and needs, • Participate in regular team meetings to review responses, enhance intervention skills, and identify opportunities for service improvement, • Document all outreach activities, crisis interventions, and client interactions in a, • timely and accurate manner, • Maintain confidential client records, case notes, and referral information in, • accordance with HIPAA and organizational standards, • Contribute to program evaluations to assess the effectiveness of outreach efforts in collaboration with Program Manager and LMHC / LCSW, • Educate community members and stakeholders about the needs of unhoused, • populations and those in crisis While we have identified specific requirements for this role, we acknowledge that not all candidates may possess every requirement listed.
