You wake up in a new city, badge into an advanced manufacturing facility, and get straight to work dialing in a multi‑axis setup. By lunch, you’ve proven out a program at the control. By day’s end, the client’s production is back on track. That’s a day in the life of a Nordic Solutions field machinist. Role at a Glance • Travel: 100% travel-based; extended on-site deployments across the United States, • Assignments: Open-ended (typically 6+ months) with both long- and short-term projects, • Pay: $40+/hr (commensurate with experience and project complexity), • Per Diem: $125–$180/day (location dependent), • Overtime: Available based on client needs, • Mileage Reimbursement: $0.725/mile to the job site (paid on the first paycheck), • CNC Milling, • 5‑Axis Mill‑Turn Machines, • CNC Lathes, • Swiss Lathes, • Dual‑Spindle / Dual‑Turret Lathes with live tooling, • ID/OD Grinding, • Centerless Grinding, • Manual Mills and/or Lathes What You’ll Tackle, • Own full machine setups with minimal direction, • Design, build, and gauge tooling as needed, • Calculate, enter, and adjust offsets using probes, edge finders, and related methods, • Edit, debug, and prove out programs at the control, • Safely machine one‑off and low‑volume parts, • Work confidently with high‑alloy steels, tool steels, and exotic materials, • Adapt quickly to different CNC controls and shop cultures Inspection & Quality, • Execute full layout inspections, • Use digital and analog height gages, • Operate optical comparators and vision systems, • Apply profile tracers, • Run manual, portable, and bridge‑style CMMs, • Communicate and collaborate with all levels of shop personnel, • Roll with shifting priorities and urgent build schedules, • Demonstrate reliable attendance and consistent execution, • Deploy skilled machinists to open‑ended projects nationwide, • Align your expertise with the right programs, • Maintain steady communication via your recruiter and project manager, • Support you professionally and personally throughout each assignment What We Don’t Do, • Place you just to fill a seat, • Staff labor disputes, • Disappear after deployment What You’ll Receive, • Daily Per Diem: $125–$180 (tax‑free), • Overtime: Based on client demand, • Mileage: $0.725/mile to the site (paid on first paycheck) Skills & Proficiencies, • GD&T, • CNC Tooling, • Troubleshooting Skills, • CNC Programming, • G‑Code, • Tape Measure Reading, • M‑Code, • Machine Setups for Production Runs Machines & Technologies You’ll Use, • CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC) — Fanuc, Bridgeport, Mazak, ProtoTRAK, Haas, Okuma, Doosan, Kitamura, Makino, Brother, Hurco, DMG Mori Seiki, • CNC Lathe (2–4 axis) — Mazak, Haas, Okuma, Doosan, Takisawa, DMG Mori Seiki, Samsung, Murata, Fuji, Nakamura, Hyundai‑Wia, • CNC Swiss Lathe — Star, Citizen, Tsugami, Index, Eurotech, Tornos, Ganesh, Hanwha, Yama‑Seiki, Nomura, • CAM Software — Mastercam, Esprit, HSM Works, GibbsCAM, Mazatrol, Autodesk Fusion 360, Promill, BobCAD, Surfcam, Siemens NX, SprutCAM, • CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC) — Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Mazak, Haas, Okuma, Kitamura, Matsuura, Mikron, DMG Mori Seiki, • CNC Lathe (5+ axis) — Mazak, Okuma, Doosan, Index, Eurotech, Miyano, DMG Mori Seiki, Samsung, Nakamura Benefits, • Health Insurance, • Dental Insurance
