Job Description Technician I, Garage Days Starting Pay:$ 32.21/hour Top Rate Within 3 Years:$40.27/hour AVAILABLE SHIFT:7:00am 3:30pm Monday, Thursday - Sunday 7:00am 3:30pm DAYS OFF: Tuesday and Wednesday Union Representation:ATU Local 282 At Regional Transit Service (RTS), we keep our community moving. Why Work With Us • Excellent pay and union security advance to $40.27/hour within 3 years, • Stable, consistent work no flat rate; steady weekly pay, • Tools and training provided stay current with the latest technology, • Strong benefits package medical, dental, vision, tool and boot allowance, fitness center, and more, • Maintain, repair, and overhaul RTS buses and fleet vehicles, • Perform inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance, • Replace and adjust parts; complete necessary test drives, • Operate diagnostic equipment (e.g., Cummins InSite, Allison), • Perform welding, brazing, cutting torch work, and operate tow truck as needed, • Report safety concerns and equipment issues to supervisor, • Must be able to perform proper front wheel alignments in order to maximize tire mileage on Articulated Buses, 40 Foot Buses and Non-Revenue Vehicles as required, • Must be able to perform proper front-wheel alignments to maximize tire life on articulated buses, 40-foot buses, and non-revenue vehicles, • May be assigned articulated bus repairs and overhauls, ramp and battery PM inspections and repairs, as well as other garage work, road calls, and towing as needed Education/Experience • Must have own tools, • Must obtain NYS CDL Class B permit with passenger & air brake endorsements prior to start; CDL-B license required within 90 days, • Must obtain CDL Class A permit & towing endorsement (may be after hire); CDL-A required within 90 days of permit, • Must pass post-offer physical The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
