This position serves as a technical expert and field leader, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Kearney Electric's quality standards, client requirements, and industry codes. The Technician III mentors and directs Technicians I and II, coordinates daily jobsite activities, and acts as the on-site technical resource for complex installation, testing, and troubleshooting tasks. The Technician III supports the Foreman and Lead Technician in coordinating daily work, mentoring junior installers, and maintaining adherence to Kearney Electric's Pathways to Excellence mission and core values of Trust, Team, Grit, and Growth. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Plan, coordinate, and perform structured cabling installation tasks for voice, data, and fiber optic systems., • Lead and mentor Technicians I and II, providing on-the-job training and performance feedback., • Coordinate tasks, materials, tools, and equipment needs with project managers or field supervisors., • Interpret and execute work from project drawings, specifications, and redlined as-built documentation., • Oversee jobsite safety, enforce company and OSHA regulations, and promote a clean, organized work environment., • Perform complex troubleshooting of copper and fiber systems, including continuity, shorts, opens, and polarity issues., • Coordinate with general contractors, clients, and other trades to ensure project milestones and expectations are met., • Build and organize telecommunications rooms, including racks, ladder rack, grounding, and cable management., • Review and prepare documentation, including cable test results, labeling reports, and daily production tracking., • Attend job site, safety, and client coordination meetings as required., • Maintain professionalism and represent Kearney Electric's core values on every jobsite., • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and company objectives. JOB REQUIREMENTS: • Must be able to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions typical to Arizona (heat, cold, dust, wind)., • Conduct advanced testing, troubleshooting, certification, and documentation of cabling systems using Fluke or equivalent testers., • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and mentor field personnel., • Strong technical understanding of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA), fiber optic systems, and network infrastructure., • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and structures, and work at different heights and confined spaces., • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier with assistance., • Requires manual dexterity to handle tools and materials., • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, or walk for extended periods., • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; strong attention to detail., • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision., • Must follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations without exception., • Required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as dictated by site safety requirements (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, boots, high-visibility clothing, etc.)., • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for all crew members., • Must communicate effectively (verbal and written) with team members., • Expected to model professionalism, teamwork, and integrity at all times., • Must adhere to company policies, including attendance, conduct, and ethics standards. QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field., • High school diploma or GED required; technical or apprenticeship training preferred., • Strong knowledge of CAT6, CAT6A, fiber optic, riser, OSP, and plenum-rated cabling types., • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and quality requirements., • Proven skill level in testing, labeling, and troubleshooting communications systems., • Understand NEC Codes, EIA/TIA standards, and OSHA regulations., • Ability to lead, train, and mentor junior technicians. LICENSES/SPECIAL TRAINING: • Industry/vendor certifications manufacturer training preferred. BICSI TECNICIAN., • OSHA 10-Hour certification required; OSHA 30-Hour preferred., • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
