Job Description Job Title: Low Voltage Technician (Level 2 and Level 3) Job Description Join a growing team of low voltage technicians supporting a variety of commercial projects in Colorado Springs, with occasional short assignments in nearby areas such as Castle Rock and Lone Tree. You will install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems in environments such as hospitals, defense facilities, and educational institutions. The initial engagement runs for approximately two months, with strong potential for long-term work and advancement into lead roles for high-performing technicians. Responsibilities • Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems including CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cables for commercial projects., • Terminate jacks, pull cable, and perform cable dressing to maintain organized and professional installations., • Build out MDF and IDF closets, including installing racks, patch panels, wire management systems, and network hardware., • Install cordage-type cabling in active data center environments while maintaining clean and safe work practices., • Set up and organize network cabling to support various commercial and institutional clients., • Perform cable tailing and ensure all terminations meet quality and performance standards., • Read and interpret blueprints to plan and execute cabling routes and equipment layouts., • Pull jetline into closets and other pathways to support cable installation., • Receive a defined subset of project scope, review it thoroughly, and determine the necessary steps for pre-planning personnel, materials, and tools., • Build network closets by installing free-standing server racks and cabinets according to specifications., • Place and install cable pathways to support copper and fiber cabling, both indoors and in outside plant (OSP) environments., • Accurately pre-label copper and fiber cordage to ensure clear identification and ease of maintenance., • Pull and dress copper and fiber cabling for both indoor and OSP applications, maintaining neatness and adherence to standards., • Collaborate with team members ranging from small crews to larger groups to complete tasks safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. Essential Skills • 1–4 years of experience as a commercial low voltage technician, depending on level., • Level 2: At least 1 year of commercial low voltage installation experience., • Level 3: 2–4 years of commercial low voltage installation experience., • Hands-on experience installing, terminating, and testing structured cabling systems including CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cables., • Proficiency with commercial low voltage installation in environments such as hospitals, defense facilities, and educational institutions., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings for cabling and equipment layouts., • Experience with telecom cabling and network cabling setup., • Familiarity with construction and installation practices in commercial settings., • Current OSHA 10 certification or equivalent safety training for construction environments., • Ownership of appropriate hand tools and test equipment required for low voltage installation work., • Valid driver’s license to travel between project sites as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience building out MDF and IDF closets, including racks, patch panels, wire management, and network hardware., • Experience working in active data centers and other live environments where careful coordination is required., • Ability to plan work in advance by reviewing scope, identifying required materials, tools, and personnel, and organizing tasks accordingly., • Experience installing free-standing server racks and cabinets and placing cable pathways for copper and fiber., • Skill in accurately pre-labeling copper and fiber cordage to support efficient troubleshooting and future expansion., • Comfort working on teams ranging from small two-person crews to larger groups on complex projects., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering clean, well-organized cabling installations., • Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members, supervisors, and other trades on site. Work Environment You will work on various commercial projects primarily in Colorado Springs, with occasional short assignments in nearby locations such as Castle Rock and Lone Tree. Typical clients include hospitals, defense contractors, and educational institutions, offering exposure to secure, mission-critical, and institutional environments. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with approximately 90% of work occurring during daytime hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. About 10% of work may take place on a 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM schedule, primarily to accommodate hospital projects and minimize disruption to daily operations. Project durations typically span several weeks per site, and you will work in teams ranging from 2 to 20 technicians depending on the size and complexity of the task. The work involves active construction and operational facility environments, with frequent use of ladders, pathways, racks, and network equipment, and requires appropriate trade attire and personal protective equipment suitable for commercial construction and low voltage installation work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colorado Springs, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
