Job Description Job Title: Shipping Coordinator Job Description The Shipping Coordinator learns to prepare furnaces and associated components for safe, secure, and compliant shipment to customer locations while optimizing load configurations. This role focuses on efficient use of materials, labor, and equipment, strict adherence to safety and ISO procedures, and accurate documentation of all shipping activities in a clean, organized industrial environment. Responsibilities • Learn to prepare furnaces and associated components for safe and secure shipment to customer locations while optimizing load configurations., • Efficiently utilize resources to minimize scrap, materials, and labor during shipping and packaging activities., • Strictly adhere to published company ISO guidelines, procedures, and safety standards at all times., • Maintain and submit accurate daily labor reports in a timely manner., • Supply and effectively use personal hand tools as required by the published tool list., • Become familiar with all equipment assigned to the shipping area, including safety aspects such as lockout/tagout procedures and equipment capabilities., • Prepare, read, interpret, and process all orders using standard documentation such as packing lists, bills of lading, hazardous materials documentation, export papers, and other authorized documents., • Attach labels or other identifying tags to shipments to ensure accuracy and traceability., • Set up, adjust, and operate applicable equipment including saws, nailers, staple guns, and scales to meet shipping requirements., • Select, set up, and adjust miscellaneous hand tools and equipment needed for packing and crating., • Plan and lay out work by measuring, marking, or scribing dimensions and reference points on material or workpieces for the construction of boxes, crates, skids, or other containment solutions., • Construct boxes, crates, skids, and other containment so that products are protected against weather and damage during transit., • Prepare products for export, including appropriate packaging and documentation., • Accurately inventory and document parts and products to be shipped, maintaining clear and complete records., • Verify that outbound trucks are properly tarped or otherwise protected by drivers to guard products against adverse weather conditions., • Plan daily activities to complete assigned jobs and achieve on-time shipment of all orders., • Load and unload trucks in a safe, efficient, and timely manner., • Compile and maintain material control records on all expendable items within the department., • Use common, generally accepted measuring devices applicable to the area, such as tape measures, to verify dimensions and conformance., • Verify proof of conformance of finished products to required specifications before shipment., • Follow oral and written instructions accurately to complete shipping tasks., • Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment to move materials and products., • Properly select, attach, and move materials and equipment using appropriate lifting devices such as chains, clevises, and straps, following safe lifting practices., • Perform simple upkeep and cleaning of equipment used in the shipping area., • Understand stock locations and store excess material properly and in a timely manner., • Maintain housekeeping standards in compliance with established company policies, keeping the work area clean and organized., • Work effectively with supervision and lead personnel to accomplish assigned tasks., • Assist coworkers and other departments as required to support shipping, receiving, and material handling operations., • Perform shipping and receiving activities in an industrial environment, including picking, packaging, and staging orders., • Use ERP systems, RF scanners, and other tools to support data entry, inventory control, and logistics processes., • Minimum of 1 year of related shipping, receiving, or logistics experience and/or training in an industrial work environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience., • High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) required., • Experience with shipping and receiving processes in an industrial environment., • Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely and efficiently., • Experience with inventory control activities such as cycle counts and pick lists., • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, including saws, nailers, staple guns, and tape measures., • Ability to read, interpret, and process packing lists, bills of lading (BOL), export documentation, and other shipping documents., • Ability to perform accurate data entry related to shipping, inventory, and labor reporting., • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel, for documentation and reporting., • Experience with ERP systems for inventory and shipping transactions., • Ability to use RF scanners for picking, inventory control, and material tracking., • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment such as hand trucks and other industrial equipment., • Capability to follow detailed oral and written instructions and standard operating procedures., • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and verification of shipments., • Experience with UPS and FedEx shipping systems, including label creation and shipment processing., • Familiarity with hazardous materials documentation and export paperwork., • Experience with crane operation and the safe use of lifting devices such as chains, clevises, and straps., • Knowledge of logistics processes, including loading, unloading, and optimizing truck loads., • Experience with inventory control practices, including maintaining material control records on expendable items., • Ability to construct boxes, crates, skids, and other containment solutions using wood and related materials., • Comfort working with picking, packaging, and material handling tasks in a production or warehouse setting., • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple shipments, priorities, and deadlines., • Ability to maintain clean, organized work areas in compliance with housekeeping standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cherry Valley, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.46 - $26.46/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
