American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Charlotte, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 05/18/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: May 18, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Work in an ADTU (Acute Definitive Treatment Unit) and Satellite unit consisting of 5 med-surg and med-tele units, with a primary focus on decompressing the ED and other specialty areas within the hospital, • Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with common diagnoses such as COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF exacerbation, falls with injuries, MVC with injuries, pulmonary embolism, DVT, UTI, pneumothorax, GI bleeds, and CVA, • RN patient ratios vary by unit: 1:5–6 on 6CD (acuity dependent, surge may increase to 1:7–8), and 1:4 on 3K, 5A, 3L, and 1T, • 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week, • Every other weekend rotation required, • No on-call responsibilities, • Floating required within region and scope of practice to multiple facilities including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, CMC Main, Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital (peds only) as needed, • EMR: Epic (experience preferred), • IV Pump: Alaris | Med Dispensing: Omnicell | Monitors: Philips, • Nurses are responsible for monitoring telemetry on their unit; the primary nurse completes a telemetry interpretation each shift (no tele tech on unit)Requirements, • Active NC or compact RN license required, • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, • Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year, • Level I Trauma and teaching hospital experience required, • General Med/Tele skillset required, including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, PCA pumps), • Medication drip management required, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF, • Candidate must provide the last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB for consideration, • At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN is required for considerationAdditional Information, • This is a 13-week assignment at a 874-licensed-bed Level I Trauma teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center, • Department support includes CNAs, a unit secretary (on main unit 6CD), a free charge nurse, 24/7 phlebotomy, 24/7 IV/VAT team, 24/7 respiratory therapy, 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage, and resource nurses on long-term contracts, • Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation, • Travelers are required to work 75% of assigned holidays, • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; missed contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract, • Schedule is set on a 6-week cycle, • Required scrub color: Navy Blue, • Free parking available on-site, • Candidates must maintain a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted, • Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must be separated for at least 1 year before being eligible With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
