Responsibilities • \tPrepare and file legal documents and correspondence with courts and opposing counsel, • \tSchedule and coordinate depositions, meetings, and court appearances, • \tCommunicate with clients, attorneys, and other parties involved in the cases, • \tMaintain accurate and up-to-date case files and databases, • \tAssist with billing and other administrative tasks as needed, • \tInterview prospective clients over the phone or in person, • \tOpen Insurance Claims, • \tOpening new files, • \tCollect and analyze intake information, • \tCollect all relevant documents, • \tFully investigate each case, • \tMaintain contact with clients regularly, • \tVerify insurance coverage and maintain contact with the insurance company, • \tManage the medical care of clients, • \tExplain procedures or forms to clients, • \tPrepare documents and correspondence, • \tDraft settlement demand packages, • \tRelay settlement negotiation from attorney to clients and adjusters, utilizing demands/offers in Client Profiles, • \tCollect documentation of all damages sustained, such as medical records, bills, and loss of income, • \tRead and interpret medical records and reports, • \tOrganize tangible damages, • \tPerform legal research to obtain documentation regarding health insurance, medical records, social security, and medical providers, • \tAssess legal documents to ensure compliance with all legal requirements, • \tOrganize and maintain all case files and information concerning engagement, whether electronic or paper, in accordance with the law firm's policies, • \tAid attorneys with all aspects of case management, including billing, docketing deadlines, and providing reminders as requested, • \tProvide recommendations to attorneys with regard to cost and time-effective ways to accomplish the client’s goals, • \tComplete legal research to obtain documentation regarding medical records, health insurance, social security, and medical providers, • \tManage, update, and organize all case files and information with regard to engagement, whether electronic or paper, in accordance with firm policies, • \tInform clients and outside counsel on case status as requested, • \tSupport attorneys with all aspects of case management, including billing, docketing deadlines, and providing reminders as needed, • \tDraw up legal documents for attorney review Qualifications • \tMust have a strong work ethic and be able to work well in a fast-paced environment, • \tMust have great people skills, as the position requires a great deal of client contact, • \tMust be able to meet deadlines, • \tMust be able to prioritize work and work under pressure, • \tMust be detail-oriented, • \tMust be familiar with relevant laws as they apply to personal injury claims, motor vehicle accidents, and insurance, • \tKnowledge of medical terms and traumatically induced conditions is helpful, • \tKnowledge of insurance coverage types and policies is helpful, • \tTime management skills, • \tAbility to work independently and as part of a team, • \tProficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software, • \tAbility to multitask and stay self-motivated, • \tA high school diploma is required - a 2-year degree and Paralegal certification are acceptable, but a Bachelor’s degree is preferred, • \tExceptional organizational skills as well as effective communication skills, both written and oral, are needed, • \tExtensive experience conducting legal research and drafting legal documents is essential, • \tComputer proficient - specifically with case management software, word processing, and spreadsheet presentation, • \tBe a self-starter and able to effectively manage multiple matters at once, • \tComfortable with computer programs, such as spreadsheet presentation, word processing, and case management software, • \tCase management process experience is needed - preferably as a personal injury case manager, or related jobs such as legal secretary, paralegal, or legal assistant at a law firm, non-profit, or human services agency, • \tHigh school diploma is required - 2-year degree and Paralegal certification are acceptable, but a Bachelor’s degree is preferred, • \tLegal research and legal document drafting experience is critical Compensation $23 - $26 hourly About Ugwonali Law Group Llc • We are a small but fast-growing Personal Injury law firm headquartered in Atlanta.
