Job Description Location: On Site in Chico, CA or San Jose, CA Employment Type: Full Time Estimated Duration: Permanent About the Role: The Electrical Engineer is responsible for electrical and controls engineering related to the planning, design, and project/construction management of water facilities. This role demands detailed knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical construction practices, and motor control centers. The engineer will prepare and oversee construction drawings, specifications, and contracts; manage budgets and schedules; and provide technical expertise for water utility projects. This position plays a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable electrical systems for above- and below-ground water system facilities. Why Join Us? Key Responsibilities: • Prepare construction drawings and write specifications for electrical designs of water system facilities., • Perform advanced engineering calculations for low and medium voltage power distribution and motor control, including short circuit current, voltage drop, breaker coordination, and arc flash studies., • Prepare construction contracts, bid projects, and award contracts., • Specify, develop bid packages, and procure major equipment., • Prepare requests for proposals (RFPs), analyze responses, and select consultants/vendors., • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget., • Communicate and coordinate with contractors, consultants, agencies, and internal staff., • Develop data tables, graphs, cost estimates, justifications, and reports., • Interpret engineering construction reports and drawings, providing guidance as needed., • Publish reports for communities and government agencies., • Utilize company financial software to monitor project costs., • Provide input for Public Utility Commission (PUC) filings, including cost estimating and justification., • Assist in preparing the companys annual capital budget., • Provide construction management and shared field inspection at project sites., • Offer technical support for system operations and maintenance., • Present project information in public forums to agencies and communities., • Support the Companys Continuous Improvement program., • Perform on-site work in the assigned office location., • Perform other duties as assigned. What We Are Looking For: • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant water utility experience., • Minimum 2 years of experience as an electrical engineer., • Project management skills with the ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications., • Experience with AutoCAD software and design plan development., • Valid California Driver License.Detailed knowledge and experience in:, • Design of motor control centers., • National Electrical Code (NEC)., • Electrical construction., • Working with consultants and contractors., • Water, wastewater, or process industry systems.
