Job DescriptionElectrical Engineer – PCB Design & Product Development Location: Plainview, NY An innovative engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, and release of complex electrical systems for advanced automated equipment. This is a highly visible, hands-on engineering role that combines electrical hardware design, PCB development, controls integration, system troubleshooting, and new product development. The successful candidate will have significant ownership over electrical architecture decisions and will work closely with mechanical engineering, software engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams throughout the entire product lifecycle. Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical System Design & Product Development • Lead the design, development, testing, and release of electrical subsystems for complex automated equipment., • Define electrical architecture, requirements, and specifications for new product development initiatives., • Develop solutions that improve system performance, reliability, manufacturability, and scalability., • Drive electrical design decisions from concept through production and field implementation., • Support both new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design, • Own PCB development from concept through manufacturing release., • Design multi-layer printed circuit boards and electrical hardware assemblies., • Develop schematics, component selections, board layouts, and fabrication packages., • Manage PCB revisions, production releases, and engineering documentation., • Collaborate with manufacturing partners to ensure design-for-manufacturing best practices., • Optimize signal integrity, power integrity, EMI reduction, grounding strategies, and overall board performance.Controls, Robotics & System Integration, • Integrate electrical hardware with motion control systems, robotics, industrial controllers, sensors, and power electronics., • Support system-level integration activities across electrical, mechanical, and software disciplines., • Resolve complex controls and electrical interface challenges., • Participate in subsystem verification and validation testing., • Assist with commissioning and troubleshooting activities during development and production.Testing & Troubleshooting, • Perform root-cause analysis of electrical and system-level issues., • Debug circuits, control systems, and integrated hardware using laboratory test equipment., • Analyze test results and implement corrective design improvements., • Validate hardware performance through structured testing and verification activities., • Investigate field issues and provide technical solutions when required.Technical Leadership, • Serve as the electrical engineering subject matter expert on cross-functional project teams., • Lead design reviews and provide technical guidance on electrical architecture decisions., • Create clear engineering documentation, specifications, reports, and design recommendations., • Partner with manufacturing and supply chain teams to improve product quality and production readiness.Required Qualifications, • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering., • 8+ years of electrical engineering experience supporting product development and manufacturing environments., • Experience designing printed circuit boards from concept through production release., • Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design., • Experience developing electrical systems for complex equipment, machinery, automation systems, industrial products, or other engineered products., • Experience working directly with multidisciplinary engineering teams., • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills., • Ability to travel up to 15%.Technical RequirementsPCB Design Experience Candidates must have hands-on experience with: • Multi-layer PCB design (8+ layers preferred)., • Schematic capture and board layout., • Signal integrity and power integrity., • Controlled impedance routing., • EMI/EMC mitigation., • Ground plane design and return current management., • Design for manufacturability (DFM)., • PCB fabrication and assembly release processes., • Component library management and design documentation. Experience with PCB design software such as: • Altium Designer, • OrCAD, • Cadence, • KiCad, • Similar professional PCB design platformsTest & Debug Tools Candidates should have experience using: • Oscilloscopes, • Logic analyzers, • Multimeters, • Power supplies, • Spectrum analyzers, • Protocol analyzers, • Electrical laboratory and diagnostic equipmentPreferred Qualifications, • Experience integrating electronics with motion control systems, robotics, industrial automation, or PLC-based equipment., • Experience developing industrial, semiconductor, automation, robotics, manufacturing, or precision-engineered products., • Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards such as CE, UL, TÜV, and RoHS., • Experience supporting products from prototype development through full-scale production., • Experience working in highly technical manufacturing environments., • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has experience working for an engineering-driven organization where they have owned electrical hardware design and PCB development for real-world products and equipment. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $128000.00 - $162000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
