Job Description At Richards Building Supply, our Yard Managers play a critical role in delivering a Raving Fan experience by keeping our yard and warehouse operations running safely, efficiently, and accurately. This is a hands‑on leadership role that works side‑by‑side with the team both indoors and outdoors, supporting daily operations, inventory flow, deliveries, and customer service. This role is best suited for someone with experience in yard or building materials operations, rather than large, fully automated warehouse environments. Essential Functions: • Lead the day‑to‑day operations of the yard and warehouse, including material handling, loading, unloading, and organization, • Supervise, schedule, and support a small team of approximately 6–8 warehouse and driver employees, adjusting for seasonal needs, • Coordinate deliveries, dispatching, and yard flow to ensure accurate and timely service to customers, • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard and warehouse environment, • Operate and oversee forklifts and other material‑handling equipment, • Monitor inventory levels, cycle counts, and material accuracy, • Partner with branch leadership, drivers, and suppliers to support efficient operations, • Ensure all safety policies are followed, including PPE use and forklift safety standards, • Identify opportunities to improve processes, productivity, and cost control, • Train, coach, and lead employees by example, supporting a positive team culture, • Support branch leadership with communication, reporting, and operational needsQualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:, • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a yard, warehouse, or similar environment, • Experience in building materials, lumber, construction supply, or related industries preferred, • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, • Forklift and material‑handling experience required, • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills, • Ability to work independently while supporting team and branch goals, • Safety‑focused mindset aligned with Richards’ policies and standardsAre you interested?, • 20 PAID DAYS OFF (includes PTO, Holidays and Family Focused Company Closure between Christmas and New Years)., • Bonus Incentive program as well as Holiday bonuses and other bonus opportunities!, • Competitive Hourly Rate with great OT potential during peak season hours., • Flexible work/life balanced hours, typical schedule Monday-Friday 7:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M., • Significant employer contributions towards monthly premiums for Medical, Dental, Vision, Group Life and AD & D benefit plans., • Additional Voluntary benefit options available including Short Term and Long Term Disability coverage, Accidental Injury, Critical Illness and Cancer plans as well as additional Life and AD& D benefit policies., • 401K program with a best in industry company match., • Opportunity for career advancement, • Family owned, operated and focused company!Work Environment:, • Combination of yard and warehouse work (inside and outside), • Active, hands‑on role requiring time on the floor with the team Richards Building Supply is a wholesale building material distributor serving 15 states with over 65 locations!
