Job Description Job Title: Mechanical Assembler / Fabricator Job Description The Mechanical Assembler / Fabricator builds precision metal components and assemblies for high‑reliability control products used in demanding applications. This role focuses on assembling metal parts, reading and interpreting technical blueprints, operating shop‑floor fabrication equipment, and verifying that all parts and work orders meet exact specifications. The position is ideal for a hands‑on technician who enjoys detailed mechanical work, working with tools and machines, and collaborating closely with engineering and production teams in a small, stable manufacturing environment. 1st shift: 6am to 4:30pm Mon - Thur - OT on Fri $21 - $24/hr Responsibilities • Assemble metal components such as switch housings, matrix frames, and related mechanical assemblies according to engineering drawings and work instructions., • Perform metalworking tasks including cutting, drilling, punching, and other fabrication steps to prepare and finish parts to specification., • Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints, ensuring all dimensions, tolerances, and notes are accurately followed., • Match part numbers to work orders and cross‑check them against engineering drawings to confirm accuracy before and after assembly., • Operate shop‑floor equipment including drill presses, punch presses, metal cutters, and laser metal cutters in a safe and efficient manner., • Use hand and power tools to assemble, fasten, and adjust mechanical components as required., • Use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, hole gauges, and dial calipers to verify dimensions and quality of parts and assemblies., • Use computers for documentation, work order tracking, and interfacing with machine controls or production systems., • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, following all shop safety practices and procedures., • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to clarify drawings, resolve assembly issues, and improve build processes., • Handle and apply RTV adhesives and other materials according to specified procedures., • Follow written instructions and documentation in English, including blueprints, schematics, and work orders., • Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings and blueprints., • Hands‑on experience working with metal parts and mechanical assemblies., • Approximately 2 years of mechanical assembly experience in environments such as medical, aerospace, or electronics manufacturing, or similar precision assembly settings., • Experience using hand and power tools for mechanical assembly and fabrication., • Experience working with RTV adhesives in an assembly or fabrication context., • High attention to detail when verifying part numbers, work orders, and drawing requirements., • Familiarity with shop tools and metalworking equipment such as drill presses, punch presses, metal cutters, and laser metal cutters., • Ability to use measuring tools including tape measures, calipers, hole diameter gauges, and dial calipers., • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and interaction with machine interfaces., • Ability to read and write in English to follow blueprints, schematics, and written work instructions., • CNC machine experience in a production or fabrication environment., • Prior experience in a fabrication or mechanical assembly shop environment., • Experience assembling precision components for industries such as aerospace, medical devices, or electronics., • Ability to read and interpret schematics in addition to mechanical blueprints., • Comfort working with small parts and using magnification tools when needed. Work Environment This role is based in a small manufacturing environment with approximately 40 production employees, offering a collaborative and focused shop‑floor setting. The position follows a 1st shift 4/10 schedule, working Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime on Fridays when needed. You will work regularly with metal parts, assemblies, and shop equipment such as drill presses, punch presses, metal cutters, and laser metal cutters, as well as standard hand and power tools. Computer use is part of the daily workflow for documentation and machine interfaces. The physical demands include frequent sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and handling or grasping materials, with occasional kneeling, bending, and squatting. The role requires good finger dexterity for assembly work and keyboard or ten‑key use, along with good eyesight for working with small parts and using a magnifying glass. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety throughout the production area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
