Job DescriptionDescription: JOB DESCRIPTION: The Shift Manager at The Elmont is responsible for overseeing operations across multiple service areas, including the Restaurant, Swim Club, and Banquet/Event operations. This position ensures excellent guest service, efficient operations, and team performance meet The Elmont’s standards. The Shift Manager must be able to wear multiple hats and adapt quickly based on operational needs. Responsibilities include supervising staff, supporting service execution, resolving guest concerns, and ensuring smooth coordination between departments. This role plays a critical part in maintaining service consistency and operational excellence during regular restaurant service, pool operations, private events, and high-volume periods. REPORTS TO: General Manager/ Restaurant Manager LOCATION: The Elmont Pay: Hourly DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: • Supervise and lead front-of-house staff during assigned shifts, including servers, bartenders, hosts, and support staff., • Oversee operations across the Restaurant, Swim Club, and Banquet/Event service areas., • Ensure guests receive prompt, professional, and courteous service., • Monitor service flow to ensure efficiency and timely food and beverage delivery., • Address and resolve guest concerns or complaints professionally and promptly., • Assist with banquet execution, including event setup, service flow, and breakdown., • Support Swim Club service to ensure guest satisfaction, safety, and operational efficiency., • Assist with opening and closing duties, including cash handling, reports, and facility checks., • Ensure staff follow company service standards, policies, and procedures., • Monitor staff performance and provide coaching and feedback as needed., • Assist in maintaining labor efficiency and proper staffing levels., • Ensure cleanliness and organization of dining areas, pool areas, bars, service stations, and guest areas., • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, alcohol service, and company policies., • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth operations., • Maintain a professional appearance and enforce grooming and uniform standards., • Be flexible and able to shift priorities based on business volume and operational needs., • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred., • Food Handler Certification is required., • ServSafe Certification preferred or ability to obtain., • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills., • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment., • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely., • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work for extended periods., • Must be flexible to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events. WORKING CONDITIONS: • Work is performed in a kitchen and hospitality environment with exposure to heat, cold, sharp equipment, and high-volume operations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. The position requires standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Requirements: Work is primarily performed on-site at The Elmont, which includes swim club, banquet, and restaurant facilities. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, often featuring loud music, large crowds, and a high-energy atmosphere. The noise level can range from moderate to high depending on the event or time of day. Team members should be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor settings and in varying weather conditions. The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, climbing stairs, and lifting items up to 50 lbs. Extended periods of physical activity and being on your feet are typical during shifts, especially during high-volume events or peak dining hours.
