Job Description Metro Infectious Disease Consultants is seeking a full-time Patient Care Assistant (Medical Assistant) to work at the clinic located in New Lenox, IL. This Assistant’s responsibilities include all duties related to the back-office with occasional front desk duties. Responsibilities assigned to individuals can and will change at any time at the discretion of management or the supervisor. Back Office Responsibilities: 1. Escort patients from reception to exam room, documenting height, weight, blood pressure and temperature as indicated, document patient’s chief complaint and notify doctor when patient is ready to be seen, 2. Stock exam rooms with supplies each morning, clean rooms between patients, 3. Maintain inventory of medical supplies, completing requisitions (order forms) in a timely manner to ensure supplies are not depleted, 4. Other tasks as assigned by management Front Office Responsibilities: 1. Filing of all scanned paperwork daily, 2. Fax clinic schedules to physicians for next clinic day., 3. Prepare travel chart weekly, 4. Open and distribute mail, daily, 5. Print schedule for following clinic day. Verity that all progress notes and super-bills are attached, 6. Order office supplies, 7. Answer telephone calls, including closed offices at different locations, 8. Page on consultations to physicians. Page should include consult, hospital, patient name, room number, referring physician, and hospital phone number with appropriate extension, 9. Make appointments for new and existing patients according to set guidelines. If patient is new, directions should be given, 10. Handle and process billing information daily, 11. Handle and process dictation, letters, and physician orders daily, 12. Register patients, enter and/or update patient demographics, make copies of vital information, 13. Collect co-payments and past due balances from patients at check-in/check-out desk, 14. Coordinate and process referral information for managed care patients, 15. Process medical records requests, 16. Escort patients from reception to exam room, documenting height, weight, blood pressure and temperature as indicated, document patient’s chief complaint and notify doctor when patient is ready to be seen, 17. Obtain laboratory specimens as requested, completing lab requisitions and preparing samples for pick-up by lab. Document same in Medical Record, 18. The majority of our direct patient care is in the field with Lightways team members providing care in the home, nursing facility or assisted living facility. We also have a 20-bed inpatient unit in Joliet. Non-clinical staff are based out of our Joliet administrative offices. We are currently seeking candidates for a full time RN for days in our In Patient Unit (IPU). This position works three (3) 12 hour shifts per week from 7 am - 7:30 pm and alternating weekends. This position also works three (3) holidays per year. Our IPU RN's provide end of life care to our patients and help support their families during this time. A minimum of one (1) year experience in nursing required; hospice experience a plus. This is a full time position eligible for full benefits after 30 days. We also have a 24-bed inpatient unit in Joliet. Non-clinical staff are based out of our Joliet administrative offices. We currently have a part time opening for a Triage RN working 24 hours per week. The Triage RN works two (2) twelve (12) hour shifts weekly from 8 am - 8:30 pm and requires flexibility in days of the week. This position responds to calls from patients/families regarding symptom/pain management and responds in a timely manner. Also facilitates implementation of orders by coordinating medications and DME through the appropriate vendors. Completes various reports as required. Directs staff on assignments after hours and weekends/holidays. This position does rotate weekends and holidays working in Triage. Candidates must have availability to work from Joliet office as needed. This position requires an RN with a minimum of two (2) years hospice experience. Incumbent should possess excellent interpersonal and time management skills. Also have the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately. This is a non-benefit position.
