Job Description Position: HVAC Technician Location: Akron, OH Shift: 1st Shift: Monday – Friday Employment: Contract to Hire Pay Rate: Competitive, based on experience Job Description: We are seeking a Senior HVAC Technician with strong experience in commercial and industrial HVAC systems to join a growing facilities and maintenance team. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC equipment, while ensuring systems operate efficiently and meet operational standards. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on technical expertise, EPA Universal certification, and the ability to work independently while also leading or supporting other technicians when needed. This position offers an opportunity to work on complex HVAC systems including pneumatic and DDC controls, supporting mission-critical building operations. Key Responsibilities • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC systems, • Inspect HVAC systems and components to ensure compliance with specifications and operational standards, • Diagnose and repair issues involving compressors, motors, pumps, fans, valves, switches, and control systems, • Start, test, and monitor HVAC equipment to ensure optimal system performance, • Operate and monitor Energy Management Systems (EMS) and respond to alarms or system irregularities, • Investigate and resolve temperature and airflow issues within building environments, • Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled service on HVAC equipment, • Install and repair ductwork, piping, and sheet metal components, • Use refrigerant recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, gauges, and charging systems, • Perform pipe cutting, threading, welding, brazing, and component installation, • Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance records, and operational documentation, • Manage and maintain tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory, • Support job planning including estimating, layout, and scheduling of HVAC work, • Maintain clean and organized work areas and mechanical spaces, • Participate in training and continuing education related to HVAC technologies and system design Required Skills / Education Education • High School Diploma or equivalent required, • 10+ years of experience in commercial or industrial HVAC maintenance, installation, and repair, • Demonstrated experience with HVAC controls including pneumatic and Direct Digital Controls (DDC), • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, • Experience interpreting HVAC blueprints, schematics, and technical specificationsCertifications & Licenses, • EPA 608 Universal Certification (Types I, II, III), • Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification, • Valid driver’s license, • Forklift and aerial lift certification or ability to obtain Technical Skills • Strong knowledge of HVAC system components and troubleshooting techniques, • Experience operating refrigerant recovery equipment and diagnostic tools, • Ability to perform sheet metal fabrication, duct installation, and pipe fitting, • Familiarity with Energy Management Systems (EMS) monitoring and troubleshooting, • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities Additional Qualifications • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, safety procedures, and system diagrams, • Strong written and verbal communication skills, • Ability to complete service documentation and maintenance reports accurately, • Basic math skills including ratios, measurements, and system calculations About Seneca Resources: At Seneca Resources, we are more than just a staffing and consulting firm—we are a trusted career partner.
