Job DescriptionJob Title: Industrial Electrician (2nd Shift) Job Description This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial electrical systems in a facility environment. You will work on a wide range of equipment, including power distribution systems, data center electrical services, building and parking lot lighting, and production machinery. The position is contract-to-hire and operates on 2nd shift, providing an opportunity to grow into a long-term role while supporting critical facility operations. Responsibilities • Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and building equipment in accordance with electrical codes and safety standards., • Connect power supply wires to machines and building equipment, and connect cables and wires between machines and related equipment to ensure proper operation., • Diagnose malfunctioning electrical apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures, and replace damaged or broken wires and cables as needed., • Work safely and effectively in a 3-phase 480/277 VAC, 120/208 VAC, and 120/240 VAC environment, ensuring compliance with electrical and safety requirements., • Maintain data center electrical services that support computer equipment and related systems, ensuring reliability and uptime., • Maintain and troubleshoot all electrical distribution systems within the facility, identifying and correcting issues promptly., • Identify and replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors, and position-sensing devices to restore proper function., • Replace faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards and related control elements as required., • Maintain building lighting systems, including interior and task lighting, furniture system lighting, parking lot lighting, lighting contactors, and emergency lights and exit lights., • Maintain and troubleshoot 120-volt outlets, photoelectric eyes for exterior building lighting, and lighting contactors controlled by an energy management system., • Plan the layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings based on blueprints, schematics, and specifications., • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on all electrical utilities and equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life., • Attend classes and seminars on electrical components, distribution, and system design to keep skills and knowledge current., • Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time, documenting work performed, materials used, and maintenance activities., • Maintain, organize, and control inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment to ensure availability and proper condition., • Clean and organize the shop area regularly, maintaining a safe, orderly, and efficient work environment., • Maintain inventory of spare parts and materials to support ongoing maintenance and repair activities., • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order, ensuring they are safe, calibrated, and ready for use.Essential Skills, • Proven experience working as an industrial or facility electrician with responsibility for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics accurately., • Hands-on experience working with 480V systems and three-phase power distribution., • Strong shop math skills to support layout, installation, and troubleshooting tasks., • Successful completion of an electrical apprenticeship program and ten or more years of related experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience., • Journeyman-level status or equivalent skill level in the electrical trade., • Basic skills and working knowledge of variable frequency drives, including setup and troubleshooting., • Proficiency in the use of voltmeters, ammeters, ohm meters, Meggers, and amp probes, with the ability to interpret and act on the data obtained., • At least three years of related experience and training in industrial or facility electrical work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience., • Demonstrated ability to install conduit, wiring, and electrical equipment in an industrial or building environment., • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and control systems., • Valid driver’s license in good standing.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Forklift certification (preferred)., • Aerial lift certification (preferred)., • Experience with facility maintenance, including building electrical systems and infrastructure., • Familiarity with lighting control systems, including lighting contactors and energy management systems., • Experience maintaining data center or critical power infrastructure is a plus., • Commitment to ongoing training, including participation in classes and seminars on electrical components, distribution, and system design., • Strong organizational skills for managing tools, spare parts, and maintenance documentation., • Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork, documentation, and inventory control.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based fully on site in an industrial facility environment. You will work primarily on 2nd shift, supporting production, building systems, and data center operations during that time frame. The role involves working around 3-phase 480/277 VAC, 120/208 VAC, and 120/240 VAC systems, as well as data center electrical services, motor control centers, and variable frequency drives. You will frequently work throughout the facility on building lighting, task lighting, parking lot lighting, emergency and exit lighting, and energy-managed lighting systems. The work requires regular use of test equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohm meters, Meggers, and amp probes, as well as standard electrician tools and equipment. You will spend time both in a shop area and out on the production floor and building grounds, performing installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The environment is hands-on and active, requiring adherence to safety procedures, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and readiness to work at heights when operating lifts or servicing elevated equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Akron, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $64480.00 - $70720.00/hr.
