Job DescriptionJob Title: Dual Craft Maintenance Technician Job Description This role focuses on assembling, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems in a climate-controlled food manufacturing plant. The technician applies strong mechanical aptitude and electrical competency to keep production equipment operating safely and efficiently, while following cGMP and health and safety regulations. Responsibilities • Assemble, install, and maintain mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment across the facility., • Troubleshoot machinery issues and perform routine preventive maintenance to minimize downtime., • Read, interpret, and follow schematics, blueprints, instructions, and operation manuals., • Demonstrate electrical competency for troubleshooting and apply knowledge of electrical principles and components, including 3-phase systems., • Use an electrical meter to test and diagnose electrical and control issues., • Work with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, valves, air compressors, boilers, and related equipment., • Develop and follow a schedule for inspecting, servicing, and testing machinery and equipment., • Apply knowledge of piping systems, pipe fittings, pumps and motors, and valves in installation and repair work., • Understand and service gearboxes, motors, bearings, sprockets, chains, bushings, belts, and pulleys., • Clean, repair, and install equipment and parts as needed to support production., • Weld and fabricate parts and equipment to support maintenance and repair needs., • Operate a sit-down forklift and/or articulating boom lift safely as required., • Operate a variety of hand and power tools to complete maintenance tasks., • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with cGMP and safety standards., • Comply with all health and safety regulations and company procedures., • Perform general maintenance work on buildings and facility infrastructure as assigned., • Maintain a strong working relationship with all plant departments and support cross-functional needs., • Write routine reports and correspondence to document maintenance activities and equipment status., • Participate in training on ammonia systems and apply that training in daily work once completed., • Work effectively with a partner on shift, especially on night shift, to support continuous operations., • Perform physically demanding tasks, including safely lifting up to 50 lbs and pushing, pulling, or moving heavy machinery and drums., • Work up to a 12-hour shift on a rotating schedule while maintaining high safety and quality standards.Essential Skills, • At least 2 years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or in a similar industrial maintenance role., • Ideally at least 3 years of dual craft maintenance experience in an industrial environment., • Industrial maintenance experience with mechanical and electrical systems., • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals., • Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics., • Experience with conveyor maintenance and repair., • Experience working with pumps, including pump repair and valve repair., • Experience with diaphragm pumps (strongly preferred)., • Experience with air compressors and boiler maintenance., • Demonstrated electrical troubleshooting skills and familiarity with electrical principles and components, including 3-phase systems., • Ability to use an electrical meter for testing and troubleshooting., • Welding and fabrication experience (preferred)., • Ability to assemble, install, maintain, and repair mechanical systems and equipment., • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues., • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively., • Ability to operate a sit-down forklift and/or articulating boom lift., • Strong computer skills for maintenance documentation and communication., • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence., • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and cGMP practices in a manufacturing environment., • High school diploma or GED., • Trade certification or graduation from a vocational school., • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs and push, pull, or move heavy machinery and drums., • Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift, including rotating night shifts.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred., • Experience working with diaphragm pumps is highly valued., • Welding and/or fabrication experience is preferred and considered a strong asset., • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and recommend effective solutions., • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety and quality standards., • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with team members and other plant departments., • Comfort working with ammonia systems after receiving appropriate training., • Ability to adapt to a rotating 12-hour schedule and collaborate closely with a shift partner.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a climate-controlled food manufacturing plant operating under cGMP standards. Certain areas, such as refining rooms and boiler rooms in the North plant, can be hot and require comfort working in varying temperatures. Technicians typically work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 p.m. to 6:45 a.m. on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule, providing extended time off on alternating weeks. You will work with a partner on your shift, with a particular need for night-shift coverage. The work involves frequent use of hand and power tools, forklifts, and articulating boom lifts, as well as regular interaction with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and ammonia-related systems. The environment requires adherence to food safety and personal protective equipment standards, including wearing hair and beard nets; candidates are not required to be clean shaven. The position involves physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs and moving heavy machinery or drums, while maintaining a clean, organized, and safety-focused workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $42.00/hr.
