About the Role: The Field Mechanic with MYR Group you'll travel to project sites across the designated service area, supporting our field teams. You’ll use your skills to perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, and minor equipment repairs safely and professionally. At times, the Mechanic will be required to respond to emergencies outside regular work hours and work overtime including weekends and holidays. Essential Functions This is considered an advance-level skilled or career level position Perform mechanic assignments using independent judgment to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific work situations Perform a full range of servicing and repairs on various types of fleet equipment, including malfunctioning parts and systems. Ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines and company schedules Frequently travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of equipment. Must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner May provide oversight for less experienced mechanics Perform routine and preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs Identify mechanical problems either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment Maintain records of time and materials used on each job, the condition of the equipment, and the repairs performed Track information in computer software; ensure repair orders and weekly timesheets are complete and accurate Conduct safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation Work in accordance with DOT, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Interstate Authority, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other rules and regulations as required Participate in training programs; maintain and update safety skills and knowledge; keep current with hazardous material training requirements Other duties as assigned Regular and predictable attendance Essential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field location Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards About You: Qualifications • Must have three to five years of experience in general mobile heavy truck repair, automotive repair, or equipment repair; equivalent trade school/technical school time may be applied toward this requirement OR have completed a vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in vehicle and equipment repair and have four years of experience. Must be capable of operating company vehicles and equipment on a daily basis. The employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing. Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. WAGE: $27- $38/hr plus (varies based on skillset and experience) Requirements: The essential duties include: • Install new hydraulic systems on heavy duty trucks (wet kits), • Troubleshooting hydraulic systems on trucks and other mobile equipment, • Occasional service calls to trouble shoot systems or perform testing, • Occasional dis-assembly of hydraulic components (pumps, motors, valves and cylinders) to identifying the cause of failure. Replacing defective parts, re-assemble and test., • Occasional Hydraulic Power Unit assembly from drawings and schematics, • May do some fabrication of frames, brackets and general work with structural steel as well as welding and use of plasma torch, band saws, hand tools, tub bending equipment and general shop tools, • Tracking of all parts and materials used in repairs or replacements., • Ensure the final work product meets quality standards, • Maintain a safe and clean work area for customers and co-workers, • Must be willing to float to where the shop demand is and work as a team player We'd love to have you as part of our team.
