Job Description Chandler Residential, a privately held, vertically integrated real estate investment firm based in Virginia specializing in the ownership and management of multifamily properties, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to oversee and support day-to-day HR and payroll operations across the company. This role is essential to keeping our organization running smoothly by ensuring compliance, delivering accurate payroll, and maintaining consistent HR processes that support our teams. You will work closely with leadership and property teams across the portfolio, serving as a trusted and reliable resource on HR and payroll matters. Beyond compliance and administration, this position plays a meaningful role in shaping company culture and the employee experience. By ensuring clarity, fairness, and accountability in every HR interaction, you help build trust and consistency across the organization. Your work directly supports a professional, positive environment where employees feel respected, supported, and confident in how the company operates. What You’ll Be Doing: Human Resources • Serve as point of contact for HR-related inquiries, • Maintain compliant personnel files and required labor law postings, • Assist with development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and procedures, • Update and maintain the Employee Handbook, • Create and update job descriptions as needed, • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, • Stay current on regulatory changes impacting HR and payroll, • Support employee engagement initiatives, • Assist with annual performance review process and documentation standards, • Report monthly HR metrics (turnover, overtime, recruiting statistics), • Create job requisitions and postings in ADP, • Source candidates as needed; send PI Assessments, • Coordinate interviews and recommend candidates, • Conduct background and reference checks, • Prepare offer letters, • Create system credentials (Gracehill, OneSite) and coordinate Outlook access, • Onboard employees in ADP, including E-Verify and status changes, • Serve as escalation point for employee concerns once leadership chain is exhausted; partner with supervisors on resolution strategies, • Provide guidance to leadership on employee relations and compliance matters, • Coordinate employee separations, including final payroll compliance, system access removal, and recovery of company property, • Process unemployment claims and represent the company in hearings, • Notify leadership of unemployment hearing results, • Manage court orders, wage garnishments, and child support filings in ADP, • Administer Workers’ Compensation claims and coordinate with ICW, adjusters, and legal, • Process biweekly payroll in ADP, • Review and correct timesheets in coordination with managers, • Enter payroll changes for exempt and non-exempt employees, • Import monthly bonuses from Operations staff, • Generate payroll reports and prepare payroll journal entries, • Maintain payroll approval documentation, • Manage employee rent discounts in OneSite and process rent payments for participating employees, • Process benefit enrollments, terminations, and COBRA through ADP and carrier portals (Guardian, Anthem), • Prepare billing entries for properties via QuickBooks Online each payroll, • Prepare month-end Workers’ Compensation journal entries, • Coordinate annual open enrollment, • Reconcile monthly insurance premiums (health, dental, vision, life, LTD), • Ensure payroll tax compliance and reporting, • Respond to payroll and benefits inquiries, • Assist in training managers on ADP, • Maintain accurate employee contact lists, • Provide monthly employee reports to leadership, • Prepare property payroll estimates upon request, • Remove system access for terminated employees, • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and company information, • Minimum 3 years of HR and payroll experience, • Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, • Experience with ADP Workforce Now (or comparable platform) preferred, • Experience with OneSite property management software a plus, • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools, • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, • Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with leadership, • Solution-oriented and committed to continuous improvement, • High school diploma required (college degree preferred), • SHRM-CP preferred or willingness to obtain, • Valid driver’s license Chandler Residential is a growing property management company focused on accountability, operational discipline, and professional standards.
