The goal of palliative care is to maximize quality of life and align the individual's medical care with what matters most to them. The Palliative Care APP is an integral member of the Palliative Care Interdisciplinary Team of physicians, APPs, nurses, social workers, and chaplains who deliver patient- and family-centered care to individuals of all ages living with serious illness. The Palliative Care NP will care for patients primarily in the inpatient setting at Maine Medical Center – Portland, with potential coverage in the ambulatory clinic in Scarborough, ME. This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. and provide services outlined below: Provide diagnostic radiography services to Veterans under the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Performance Work Statement. Produce high‑quality radiographic images, practice radiation safety, complete required documentation, follow infection‑control requirements, and support after‑hours/on‑call coverage when scheduled. The Radiologic Technologist provides X-Ray and CT services. • Perform X-Ray and CT studies ordered by staff on patients., • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records., • Prepares patients for radiological procedure by positioning patient., • Adjusts immobilization devices, moves equipment into specified positions and modifies equipment controls to set exposure factors., • Providing explanations of treatment and answering questions for patients., • Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding and knowledge of exposure factors., • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols., • Follows drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid and using the emergency cart., • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations., • Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
