We’re hiring Front of House and Heart of House positions for our upcoming opening in the historic Henry Weinhard Brewery Blocks. Hearth & Vine celebrates the best of Pacific Northwest products and purveyors through New American cooking and a regional wine and beer program. Set within the historic Henry Weinhard Brewery building in Portland’s Pearl District, Hearth & Vine is a restaurant, bar, and gathering place offering New American cuisine alongside a broad selection of Pacific Northwest wines and beers. The menu is guided by seasonality and classic technique, while the bar features 50 wines by the glass, 20 of which are available on tap, plus a thoughtfully curated roster of regional draft beers. For private gatherings, HW's Malt & Hop House is a dedicated event space, providing a distinct setting for celebrations, meetings, and hosted experiences. Summary: The Server Assistant is an integral part of the restaurant team responsible for maintaining a clean and organized dining environment. The primary role of a Server Assistant is to assist in the efficient turnover of tables by clearing and resetting them promptly, ensuring a pleasant and sanitary atmosphere for guests. Responsibilities: • Clear tables of used dishes, glassware, and utensils promptly during and after guests leave and transport them to the dishwashing area., • Wipe down and sanitize tables, chairs, and condiment containers., • Set tables with clean linens, utensils, and other necessary items according to the restaurant's standards., • Restock clean dishes and glassware to ensure a steady supply for service., • Collaborate with servers to ensure a smooth flow of service, responding promptly to their requests for assistance., • Refill water glasses and provide additional items, such as bread or condiments, as needed., • Communicate effectively with the serving staff to understand table statuses and prioritize tasks accordingly., • Empty trash bins and replace liners in a timely manner., • Keep the overall dining area well-organized and visually appealing., • Interact with guests in a friendly and courteous manner, assisting with any immediate needs., • Be attentive to guest signals for assistance and communicate effectively with the serving team to address customer requests., • Support the closing procedures by completing all side-work, including restocking condiments, napkins, and other items as needed., • Ensure tables are properly cleaned and set for the next shift., • Collaborate with the cleaning staff to leave the dining area in top condition at the end of the shift., • Follow established restaurant policies and procedures regarding cleanliness, sanitation, and guest service., • Previous experience as a Busser or in a related role preferred., • Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and carrying trays, dishes, etc., • Strong teamwork and communication skills., • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized dining environment., • Eligible to participate in company subsidized medical/dental/vision/life insurance within 30 days following new hire status if full time 30+ hours per week, • Eligibility to participate in employee funded supplemental benefit programs, i.e., disability, within 30 days following new hire status if full time 30+ hours per week, • Eligible to participate in 401(k) plan after six months of service and 1000 hours worked.
