American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Phoenix, Arizona. • Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 01/12/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring Level 1 Trauma and EVD experience, with night shifts and Cerner charting. • Work in a 32-bed Neuro ICU within an acute care hospital setting, • Level 1 trauma center with critically ill neurological patients, • Typical patient population includes those post-craniotomy, brain tumor removal, ablations, brain biopsies, and complex spine surgeries, • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 in ICU and may be 1:4 if floating to Tele units, • Floating is required between all ICU and Telemetry units as needed, • Uses Cerner EMR; experience with Cerner preferred, • Shift is 12-hour nights, typically 7 PM to 7 AM, • Required to work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period and holidays as assigned, • Ventilator management, ICP monitoring, and use of Phillips monitors included, • Floor-specific orientation is provided over 2 shifts, • Primary duties include providing critical care to neuro trauma patients, vent management, ICP monitoring, and conducting complex neuro assessments, • SIMs Lab skills validation on core competencies including sterile technique is required on day 1; pass/fail, • May be floated first and required to take a patient load if assigned to Telemetry (4:1 ratio), • Charge nurse available at all times but does not carry a patient assignment, • Steel grey scrubs are required on Neuro floors; any color or print (non-offensive) may be worn on other units, • Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing and all staff must maintain natural hair colors; no facial piercings allowed, • Holiday and standby coverage based on unit needs, • Returning candidates must not have worked for any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility as an employee within the past year, • Active AZ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration, • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required, • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience in a hospital with 450+ beds and Level 1 Trauma exposure, • At least 3-6 months of previous travel nursing experience preferred, • Demonstrated EVD and strong neuro assessment skills, • Experience with ICP monitoring required, • Must pass a dysrhythmia (DYS) exam prior to acceptance, with up to two attempts allowed, • Must pass orientation skills assessments on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, • Required to live at least 50 miles from the facility as determined by driver's license address, • Two recent professional references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy, • Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID #P-637061.
